Late July 2014, Central Colorado Swatch Range, Independence Pass east of Aspen on route 82. The high country above Independence Pass, highway 82 visible on the right, which is labeled the highest paved pass in North America at 12,100 feet. Hiked south up an old jeep road (closed to vehicles) at the pass for a little over a mile.
