Tomorrow is the aphelion, the annual point in time when earth’s orbit is the farthest from the sun.

It’s one of those inquiring minds things……………
?
 
It probably comes as a puzzler to a lot of northern hemisphere folks: That the Earth is farthest from the Sun in mid-summer.
Yup, it's all about the angle of incidence!
 
So, we are farthest from the sun right now and sweltering in a prolonged heat wave. We're toast if we get closer to the big yellow ball.

I just got back from the Icehouse area. Just a quick trip to get Riley out the noise for the night. People were everywhere. Normally I see few outside of the campgrounds but every spot a car could pull was taken. I suppose its a combination of the heat and a four day weekend for many. At least it was quiet.
