RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Satellite emergency device and GPS unit

Foy, My condolences on you and your family's loss. You may wish to look at this review of the Garmin GPSMAP 67i. The 'i' means it is the same functionality as the Garmin inReach mini 2 (a dedicated satellite emergency device). I just bought the GPSMAP 67 and can vouch for it being by far the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Appropriate batteries for Hawk FB?

More knowledgeable people than me will weigh in I am sure. I expect you are fine. In 4.5 years I have never plugged the camper into shore power. Still have the original factory batteries, which are fine - so far. The first trip we went on after getting our 2019 Hawk new I freaked out when the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma leveling app no longer available

We use one of these for the last 4 years, in the cab by the gear shift stick, where I can look at it while maneuvering. For $9 it is remarkably accurate for an analog device. Meets our needs. Amazon.com

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Standard or Metric

We carry both since so much 'blending' of standards has been going on. Your vehicle, the camper, any extra gear you have -- could be metric or SAE.

This is a great shot, Steve. I did not want to give it a thumbs up 'like', as it is very bad news for lots of people, plants and critters.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should have checked wires from below....

We bought this one: Amazon.com At first we had a bit of confusion about how to stabilize it. After a bit of practice I am now confident making coffee (with a jet boil and a glass chemex carafe), putting our Everest 2-burner stove on it, placing wine and other beverages on it during beer-thirty...

We enjoyed 'My Brilliant Friend' by Elena Ferrante. Very different but completely charming.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Cautionary Trailhead Tale

I have heard of packrats in Organ Pipe Cactus monument eating your wires under the hood, but never marmots in Colorado eating fan belts! Quite a tale for their friends and family!

Consider getting the aluminum tire table. Amazon.com It is one of our most used add-ons, sets up quickly and moves the cooking outside. We put it up under the awning (right rear) where it serves as a hang-out spot and, with a connecter to one of the propane tanks, a cooking surface to hold our...

And with a thick mat, you can do yoga while out camping. My wife loves doing yoga on slickrock sandstone in the middle of nowhere, so we always keep an eye out for such sites.

I agree with Foy. Weathering rind in an ash flow tuff. There is a lot of volcanic rock in eastern Oregon, if that is where it is from.

Try two stacked yoga blocks about 2/3 of the way toward the back of the camper, on the bed. It gives you a leverage point which seems to help our efforts at raising that second lift.

Look at it as a chance to get it exactly right, despite undoing then redoing the job. At least half of the DIY projects I've done required a re-do. (Water manifold on our Hawk for one example.) You will have the peace of mind knowing when the wind blows and rain falls you got it right. Some...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water intrusion

It must be some of the people at FWC are very good and some on the assembly line are just slipshod. If you have ever worked in a factory assembly line, you know what I am talking about. Our Hawk was one of the last built in 2019, we picked it up in January of 2020. We have never had a leak and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West In Search of San Rafael Swell, UT - May 2024

Tomorrow, when the single malt is not so influential, I will study your trip report, as that is country I dearly love! Thanks Bill! Great trip report, as usual. I found your Pine campground by looking up the details on that benchmark.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A new tool for western trip planning - fire watch live cameras

I stumbled on this site: ALERTCalifornia - Operations - real time images of current wide angle views from many mountain peaks as well as the usual traffic cams. Zoom the map in about halfway then hover your mouse over the purple triangles. You will be presented with a view from the peak where...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Antelope Lake

Craig. Thanks for this. I am all for freedom and people enjoying the outdoors. I am opposed to vandalism, screwing up habitats and human waste scattered everywhere. Too bad some rich jerk that owns too much prime western forest land does not provide these overgrown children a place to make a...
