RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Good, the almost bad and the not so ugly

In anticipation of a quick run to the Oregon coast tomorrow, I de-winterized the Hawk today. The Good thing was my very painstaking dewatering last November resulted in no frozen water pockets to cause leaks as I have had the last couple of years. (I hate pulling the front of the cabinet off to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Invasion of the Turkeys.

I have friends in the fish & wildlife regulatory world. They have been complaining about turkeys being an invasive species west of the continental divide for 40 or so years. That is a bunch of turkeys!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Favorite signs you've come across while wandering?

In the past I took lots of photos of our travels. As time went on I began to take less and less. Went through a period of wondering if I had lost the 'buzz' from photography. But I eventually realized I could walk around with a camera and take many, or only a few and sometimes no photos. A good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West B&H sale

Steve, I bought a grip, which got me to 9 fps, but took it off after a while. Have not used it in nearly a year. Fast action and a nearly infinite buffer you can get from your D4S...

Agree. It is the best DSLR, does everything I want it to. I still use my D500 for birds in flight and D5 in low light, but the D850 for everything else.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exciting Times at Cascade Locks

I read the captain and someone else were able to leap aboard and get the engine started. Had to take it downstream of Bonneville Dam to find a place to tie her off. Much excitement! A mariner's tale for the years to come.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Now Here is a Bad Day

No water shoes. No situational awareness. More courage than smarts. But he did have an appreciative audience, two solar panels on his rig - plenty of juice - and a nice beautiful sunny day! I expect his GPS device told him he could cross at that spot!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wintertime...and the livin' is freezy

The last winter i lived in Helena MT it got to be 40 below zero. I had to walk to work because I knew the old corrola would not start. I dressed up like the Michelin Man and walked the mile and a half. Kind of surreal being out in that weather at 6:30 in the morning. Did not see anyone else...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Knuckleheads in Death Valley

I am chuckling to myself about the thought of a bunch of us 70+ year olds out doing some monkeywrenching! But, I am sure none of us would ever stoop to messing with some willful ignoramous' unattended vehicle would we? Nah. Perish the thought!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Knuckleheads in Death Valley

I break down fire rings and disperse the ashes and charcoal as well. On our last trip to southern Utah some scofflaws had built a fire ring in the middle of the backcountry road. I removed it as well. Willful idiots thumbing their noses at perceived authority like common small children. How sad...
