RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West options I would like to see

When my 3 way fridge died I moved the re-igniter I had installed on the fridge to the water heater. Works great to start the heater but still needs the pilot to keep it running.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Locking the propane compartment

I've never been concerned about loosing the tank but as always you guys got me thinking. I didn't like the idea of a door lock on that flimsy door. I could see paying for a new door as well as a tank if someone wanted it. I installed a 3/6-16 Torx Security bolt on the tank bracket. I figure it...

I mounted my must have camping accessory on the bracket.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West options I would like to see

On my camper that extra water in the heater is useless unless you have water in the main tank to push it through.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic fan location?

I have fans both over the stove and bed. The one over the bed gets the most use.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to you secure your FWC?

I made the inside deadbolt knob removable so the bad guy can't unlock it if he breaks the window. If I'm inside the camper I can put it on and lock the door.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Campers prohibited?

Not sure about an RV but the Calif definition of a large vehicle is any vehicle which exceeds 25 feet in length, or exceeds 80 inches in width, or exceeds 82 inches in height. My Grandby on a 4x4 Dodge exceeds these width and height limits. The Goleta parking Nazis no longer allow me to park on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Feeling old, Cataracts

Bill, I had mine done 2 years ago with great results. It's a medical miracle. I went with the Tecnis multi focus lenses. There's some haloing when driving at night but it hasn't slowed me down a bit. Going from those #&%@ bifocals to no glasses is wonderful. Don't sweat the surgery - easier...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West spell check

I had these "Microsoft Support" people call and tell me that their servers detected my windows computer was infected with a virus and they would fix it for free. All I had to do was follow their instructions. When I couldn't find the key with the flags on my Mac they got frustrated with my...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Off-roading these campers

FWC has had to repair my rear wall twice. There were cracks at the corners of the door. Seems to be ok now.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Uh oh, its not just maintenance

Craig, I had the same problem as shown in your first picture. Luckily I caught it before it tore apart. I built some brackets out of 3x3 angle iron that tie the horizontal and vertical walls together and replaced the elevator bolts with grade 8. Even FWC's new brackets won't strengthen the...

I usually do it alone but have had another vehicle along a few times. I will probably be heading down the first part of March and out by easter.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fuses for interior lights keep blowing

I don't think the problems are related. I would suspect that the lighting problem is caused by the wires behind the lift panel shorting. These wires move slightly each time the roof is raised or lowered so the short can come and go. Pull the wires out and check them out. It's a poor design using...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Low Cost Mods

On my Grandby the switch for the rear flood lights is mounted just off the floor by the door. I once unknowingly kicked the switch when I was getting out in the morning and the lights were on all day which drained my batteries. To solve this problem I drilled a small hole in the switch and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Low Cost Mods

Ever had the drip tray under the freezer in your fridge come loose on a rough road? I've had this problem on my old 3 way and the new compressor fridge. I glued a couple of magnetic strips on the tray and the back of the fridge and it seems to keep the tray where it belongs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Meadow Lake Camp Rally

It was a great rally and I want to thank Ted for putting it all together. It was nice to see friends from past rallies and meet some new WTW members. I wish I hadn't have to leave before I had a chance to fork miss piggy. Let's do this again. Dick

I'll probably be heading out in the late morning tomorrow and maybe camp at Green Creek. That will get me to Meadow Lake thursday afternoon unless I get sucked in by Cabelas. Looking forward to this.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar "Load" connection?

I'm also using this Morningstar controller. The load terminals need to be connected to the camper power switch and the battery terminals connected to the battery. This will provide low voltage protection for the battery, limit the maximum load current and monitor the system. If you have the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backcountry Truck Repair Stories

Good topic. About half way through the Ducy trail the frame broke on a Jeep. This caused the motor mount to break which resulted in a broken fuel pump and sheared oil pressure gauge line. After winching for 2 hours and moving 10 feet it was decided a trail fix was needed. We had some welding...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A cluster in the Black Rock

I decided to come home via 447 sunday just to watch the exodus. We parked just north of Gerlach and watched the parade for a couple of hours. Dusty vehicles for as far as the eye could see. Not as many interesting vehicles as I expected but it was fun. There was a great wood shingle sided camper...
