RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hot glue gun?

I've used a glue gun to hold nuts and washers together when you have to get them in a tight location.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar charge controller question

I don't believe the output stops when the sun goes down. If there is no solar input the load will draw from the battery.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic 65L fridge

That's true. My Truckfridge is 12v only. The 110 / 12 volt model costs more and just adds converter circuitry to the compressor electronics. Since my camper has a converter I couldn't see paying extra for a dual voltage fridge.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic 65L fridge

If your camper has a converter you don't need to hook the fridge up to the 110v power. The converter will supply 12v when you are hooked up to shore power. Hooking up to 110v is just redundant wiring.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Info on Hellroaring Battery Isolators

The Blue Sea 7610 looks like it will work for me. It will allow me to wire it to the starter to open the circuit during start.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Info on Hellroaring Battery Isolators

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to rely on the 30A circuit breaker on the wiring to the camper to protect the wires from starting currents. Now to choose a ACR. I've been looking at Blue Sea SI-ACR and Viltron Cyril CT. Since this will be mounted under the hood I need to check the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Info on Hellroaring Battery Isolators

I'm considering replacing my Sure Power isolator and wonder if a dual sensing ACR will cause me problems. My solar controller is set to charge an AGM battery but the truck is using flooded cell batteries. Will the difference in charging voltage cause any problems? I'm also concerned that with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge Fan Install

My camper originally came with a 3 way fridge and FWC installed a fan in the exterior vent controlled by a thermal switch in the space behind the fridge. When I converted to a compressor fridge I left it there. Another problem is that Isotherm / Truckfridge have the compressor mounted in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tech Tip: Auto-Relighter for Propane Refrigerators

Google reigniter and you'll find several in the $30 range plus you will need an electrode. I think I got mine off e-bay for less several years ago. Get the 12v model and you won't have to mess with batteries.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Electrical Array - Laid out correctly?

I fused my solar panel on the roof because of the mickey mouse wiring that FWC uses behind the front lift panel. I've had those wires fail and found that the stiff insulation cracks and leaves bare wire exposed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need Beer Help

Pliny seems to be everywhere Ted is. I've even found it in Baja. I've been told that Pliny the Younger is made with a very invasive yeast and has to be brewed in a separate facility than other beers. Not sure if this is true but it could be a reason for it's rarity. I don't know if the easier...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Electrical Array - Laid out correctly?

I think the 100 amp megafuse is overkill. That would require all wiring down stream to be able to handle 100 amps. Fuse it to match the load capacity of the solar controller or the actual load you're anticipating.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Brand new Lance 825 Camper

I have a friend in my 4x4 club that has a setup like yours. He started with a Lance on his '06 Dodge 3500 then upgraded to an even bigger Arctic Fox with slide out. Even with the Lance he had to add air bags, rear sway bar and tranny cooler. I think he has also recently installed an exhaust...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Controller Wiring

Paul I could run an inverter and/or motors safely if those loads were connected to the battery and that could be a solution. The problem is they are now connected to the load output of the controller which has a solid state switch to shut off the load when battery voltage gets too low or the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Controller Wiring

When I installed my Morningstar SunSaver MPPT controller several years ago I followed their instructions which stated that no inverters should be connected to the load output terminal. Since I don't have an inverter - no problem. I just wired the camper master switch to the controller load...

I've got several sets of deflators for different vehicles and conditions. Two sets of Stauns, one for the truck in the dunes and another for the Jeep on the trail. I also have an ARB that can go to any pressure and gets used on either vehicle when I want a pressure other than the Staun set...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2007 FWC Hawk Norcold Orifice removal

It sounds like the igniter and thermocouple got misaligned when you put it back together. The igniter needs to close enough to the burner to create a spark above the burner and the thermocouple needs to be in the flame. Not sure why it won't cool down if you have an adequate flame.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2007 FWC Hawk Norcold Orifice removal

I needed to clean the burner on my fridge about every year. The orifice is probably clean but the burner gets gunked up with carbon and corrosion. You can unhook either connection but it would be a good idea to use 2 wrenches so you don't twist the tubing. I believe there is also a screw that is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fuel Cans

I have heard stories about not being able to bring full fuel containers back into the US from Mexico unless it was plumbed into the truck fuel system. This mainly applied to diesels with bed mounted tanks with fuel pumps. Not sure this is as much of a problem now that Mexican fuel is so expensive.
