RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

A bigger question, perhaps, than payload: Should I continue to match truck color to RV color?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

So.... I wonder what my total payload is when camping with my FWC? How much weight is added to the truck when my 2005 FWC Hawk and me and gear are on/in it?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

Hey TGK, thanks for the review! All reviews are helpful, but I like positive ones the best because they don't make me doubt my path, change my mind. :P From what I can see on Ford's site and on the master spec sheet, the "heavy duty payload package" isn't available on the Supercab with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

I just found and watched this in-depth video from a guy comparing an F150 with the 5.0L V8 vs the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost. It's based on his personal experience with both trucks engines, but he sounds like a knowledgeable truck-guy in general. His main point in favor of the 3.5L V6 is its superior...

Russ, I haven't done a lot of research yet. I read good initial reviews, but I haven't dug beyond that. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

I was out and about away from home, traveling and camping with truck and trailer, crossed the USA twice, for 6+ months straight last year, and I plan to do something similar beginning next month (probably). So, whatever truck I have will definitely get plenty of use.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

I've said in recent years: "A replacement for my gas-hog 2000 F250, 6.8L V10 rig will never pay for itself in fuel $aving$." And that's still true...but I think I've decided I don't care about the $$-based argument for sticking with the 21-year old rig. I'm very close to deciding on a 2021 Ford...

I turned my furnace on this morning (i.e., turned on the thermostat's winter mode) -- been off since May. It was 56°F in my house before I turned on the heat. I think the low this morning in Bend was about 36F.

Today and tonight forecast to to be the coolest we've had in Bend since spring: But fall -- like spring -- isn't a smooth slope of temperature change. I'm glad to see that Thursday's temperature will bump back up to 20° warmer than today: I'm meeting friends for lunch -- outside dining.

Yes! Today is the day (one of two each year) when worldwide, pole to pole, the noxes are everywhere equal! (and equal to the die) (no, as a matter of fact, I don't know Latin...so for me the plural of "nox" is "noxes" B) ;) )

Yep! Now even the traditionalists -- Wickens, Orthodox Aztecs, astrologers and the like -- will acknowledge that it's fall. ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West DeLorme Atlas

I was glad to find that Benchmark added Texas to its coverage... 'recently'. I use state atlases mainly to find places, to get a feel for where 'stuff' is. For actual driving navigation in unfamiliar territory I rely on turn-by-turn directions spoken by Google Maps on my phone. I've acquired...

We ended up getting just 0.1 inches in the Bend area -- early yesterday morning. And it was very windy as the front passed through.

I don't think the Delorme are as good as Benchmark. AND YET, despite believing that, I have bought Delorme atlases for all of the Southern states to cover my travels there in the past couple of years. Definitely better than nothing.

This morning -- for the first time in a LONG time -- I left the house in long-sleeve shirt, long pants and full-coverage shoes... and NOT because I was going to a wedding, funeral, court appearance nor to work a shift on the fire line. Yep, it's fall in Central Oregon!

So nice to be able to have the windows and slider doors open all day -- not too hot anymore and not yet too cold. Perfect Goldilocks conditions! And not too smoky -- today, at least.

Today's rain totals in Central Oregon were between 0.4 and 0.6 inches...so not a soaker but definitely more than a trace.
