RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How do you level your rig?

I've used rocks, too, and it was kinda fun. Rustic charm. But not always reliable. Here's a link to a post I made that includes drawings of lumber levelers. LINK

FWIW: I used to use 2x6s in a range of lengths (in order to build a pyramid). But I switched to Lynx Levelers (2 sets of 10) many years ago -- which are MUCH lighter than wood, and I've never looked back.

A couple of days ago it was too chilly and gray and breezy (for me) here in South Carolina to paddle my kayak. That is, it wasn't appealing to do so. So I made cornbread instead. But this forecast is more like it -- why I came down here! Looks good for paddling in local salt marsh and tidal...

Foy, next week I'll be staying for a few days with some friends in Summerville, SC (west of Charleston). I'll ask them about 'the real Carolina'...see what they say. ;-)

Well -- DANG it -- Mr Foy...I am now south of your border in the other Carolina. Just barely, though, in "Little Pee Dee State Park". It's mid-afternoon and only 48°F. Kinda chilly... I could use a hot beverage now.

As I drove a couple of hundred miles through North Carolina today I had the truck windows rolled down part way. Not that it was hot outside, just comfortable. But the sun shining in the windshield heated up the cab. (At least I didn't turn on the A/C) Over the next couple of days it's going to...

No freezing where I am... but I certainly appreciated new wiper blades myself while driving a few hundred miles in moderate to heavy rain -- especially at night. No streaks!

High winds -- mostly out of the West -- were at my back from central Wyoming to central Nebraska today. Those tailwinds along I-80 boosted my truck's gas mileage by almost 20%! Yesterday I drove through off-and-on rain -- mostly light -- from Nevada to Wyoming. There were a few snowflakes mixed...

Renewable diesel hits the pumps at Bend gas station video from KTVZ TV I don't own a diesel vehicle, but this story on tonight's local TV news is kinda interesting. According to the story, this is the first place in Oregon to sell "renewable diesel" to the public. Renewable diesel (aka, "green...

I went out for lunch today, and I wore long pants...but a short-sleeve shirt and sandals. One handy thing about the cold season: Wearing a jacket provides more pockets for carrying things when out and about.

We have a (relative) heat wave in store for the next couple of days. Not freezing or raining or snowing makes it easier for me to finish prepping and packing my rig for travel.

About $3.70/gal regular is typical here in Bend, OR this week. ...in 3 or 4 weeks I expect to be paying about 80¢ or 90¢ less...and be back to wearing T-shirt and shorts and sandals.

With a low of 23°F forecast for overnight -- the first hard freeze here since early spring -- I decided to 'winterize' my travel trailer's water system. I pumped RV antifreeze through the water lines until pink came out of the faucets. I probably could have gotten away with not doing this --...

I turned my furnace (thermostat) on again this morning; it was 57°F in my house when I got up. I think I'll now leave it on (in its winter program) for the duration. We have near/below-freezing nights in the forecast.

Yep, me too. It might be kinda fun, for a change, to be like one of those oddball time zones. Such as Afghanistan, which is +4:30 hours from UTC...or Newfoundland, which is -3:30 hours from UTC... Or the really wacky Chatham Islands (NZ), which are +12:45 hours from UTC. ...those guys are REAL...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

My worst car-dealer vehicle-buying experience was buying the truck I had before the 2000 F250. But I'm not going to tell that story for fear of triggering PTSD. :(

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

Yeah, that's my take on the situation. I've bought my last three vehicles -- including my 2000 F250 -- through a 'no-haggle but great-price' route: Either through the "fleet department" or "Internet sales" or Truecar. There may be savings to be had if I work at it...but not as much or as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

I met with a local Ford salesman this morning to review my build order. He told me that current delivery waits for trucks is 4 to 6 months. As long as that sounds, I was prepared to hear even longer. (of course, maybe it will be longer and he was just being a salesman...) I found a forum with...
