I woke to the sound-signs of rain -- downspout dribble -- this morning. Yep, we sure do need the moisture, even if it lands on the weekend. (I guess if I was a working man who needs nice weekend-weather for recreation I might complain...a little... but I'm not.)

Besides members of the squirrel family, there's also a bunny rabbit in my yard. But if you've watched "Monte Python and the Holy Grail" you know what that can mean: I keep bear spray handy.

Today is the first day of meteorological summer...and it kinda feels like early summer in Bend. Not hot at all...more like "perfect" -- a high temperature of about 75°F right now. :) I wish it never got warmer than 75° here...

Yesterday the high temperature here in Bend was just 59°F with a low of 30°F -- it felt unseasonably cold...and yet, tomorrow is the first day of [meteorological] summer. The weather: It's always sumpin!

Kinda like hiking down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon -- the return leg of the trip is harder. (no...I've never done that hike, but I can imagine. ;) ) A Scottish friend of mine quoted a saying about mountain hiking: "Your lungs take you up and your legs take you down".

I like the Michelin spiral-bound for 2 reasons: The arrangement, order, of the maps in the atlas and the spiral binding. Arrangement: Instead of the atlas pages being ordered alphabetical by state name they're arranged by geographical location. e.g., the page that covers northwest Nevada comes...
