RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Truck? Thinkin' hard about new F150

I tell you what, it's gonna take me some studying on the owners manual to figure out all the features and functions of this new-fangled v-hickel. I'm not sure... but I think there's a button that, if you get in an accident, can turn back time by 5 minutes. Maybe that's only available on the...

Seems a little weird that my home at the edge of the Oregon High Desert -- at 44°N latitude and 3600 feet elevation -- has a similar forecast to where I'm staying with friends in the Carolina Low Country -- at 33°N latitude and 100 feet elevation. In fact, it's forecast to be a bit warmer in...

I posted my 100,000 mile/stone on this forum, too. It was, I think, the day after the WTW Mokelumne River rendezvous, back in... 2010? (someone knows or can look it up) I was driving up 108 on the east side of the Sierras, near Pickel Meadows... or so I recall.

Craig, neither would I except in the [relatively] cool, dry months. A few years ago I made plans to visit a friend then living in Savannah, GA. He warned me: "Don't come here after April or before mid-October".

I just paid $3.159/gal for regular here in Sebring, Florida. Sebring is famous for its International Raceway...where I bet, as a rule, they use something peppier -- and more expensive -- than Regular. (but I'm not a racecar guy, so...)

"what you're used to" also applies to to humidity. I'm still a humidity wimp, but after spending many months in the South I'm getting a little more tolerant. So I have to laugh when back in Bend someone comments: "It's muggy today!"... meaning the humidity is all the way up to 50%RH. :D

This morning I got a call from the guy who runs the motel I stayed in (when not camping) outside the Okefenokee Swamp, near the Georgia-Florida border. Turned out to be an accidental 'butt dial' but we chatted briefly anyway -- about the weather, naturally. He said, "There was a frost!! Not too...

I'll tell you what winter is: I'm wearing long pants, shoes, and a jacket outside for the first time in months! I turned the furnace on in my trailer last night for the first time in months! But it's sunny out, which is normal in Florida with north wind in winter, I think.

Yep, all good, thanks for asking, Mr 3pin. Where I was, Long Pine Key Campground, Everglades NP, it got no worse than the whipping and swaying palms and pines seen in my little video.

Activity here in south Florida: Featuring a tornado watch! :o That's ok... I did a good long kayak paddle loop -- through mangrove swamp and flooded prairie -- yesterday under sunny calm conditions, so I'm content to just hang out today.

OMG -- the Everglades are on FIRE! Look at the huge column of... Oh... nevermind -- it's a cloud -- water vapor...being fed by the warm waters of Florida Bay. And the fire is 93 million miles away. :P Couple hours later a lot of that water fell back down -- hard...a couple of gallons of it...

Winter is the dry season here in Everglades National Park, south Florida. But "dry" is relative: It's very wet here right now... but just passing showers, as shown in the radar. I'm at the blue GPS dot. I'm dry and cozy, encased in fiberglass. But at times like this I kinda wish I'd...

So...it is possible to pay a lot for gas in the East, if you buy the right gas in a remote enough location. Today at the Flamingo Marina, Everglades National Park, I paid $4.95/gal for regular. ("REC 90" grade -- apparently good for marine engines) I'm glad it's available.
