RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Summer Dayz

Summer -- yes, meteorological -- begins today...and continues through 31 August. It feels like it full-on here in Bend, Oregon today: But in a few days it will be more "seasonable", i.e., temperate.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Well it's time to get rid of Winter and onto Spring

The forecast for the beginning of summer is still forecast to be full-on summer -- for these parts. ... Some summers -- maybe most -- we never hit 100 in Bend.

I'm thinking of going cross-country with my travel trailer to spread the word, kinda like Neil did. :D :P

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Memorial Day Weekend

I just set myself up for an exercise in patience: I made an appointment for a haircut tomorrow, Friday, at 3:30 on the other side of town. I generally try to avoid being on the streets between 3 and 6pm even on a normal weekday, because of traffic. Oh well... I spent several months in the role...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Well it's time to get rid of Winter and onto Spring

Just six days left before the start of (meteorological) summer. And if this forecast holds, looks like it will start full speed. I know that low 90s would be considered mild for summer in a lot of the West, but it's moderately hot for Bend.

It's 47°F at 1pm here in Bend. Could be a winter day...instead of 10 days before summer.

I haven't noticed any of the yellow residue around here yet. It's juniper (Juniperus occidentalis) pollen that I find annoying. I'm not allergic to it, but the spiky balls of pollen still poke and irritate my eyes when it's heavy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Covid Vaccine -- Have you got yours?

I got my first shot in rural Georgia (the US state) and the second here in Bend, Oregon. When I left Bend in early February my age-group wasn't yet eligible for vaccination. So, I figured I'd either rely on Southern hospitality to vaccinate this poor "homeless" West Coast Yankee...or wait...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West World Password Day

My password strategy for years has been to use a password manager that holds and encrypts all of my passwords. I use KeePass. Using a password manager to remember my passwords means they can be long and crazy-random, so hard to crack by "brute force". I have the pw manager secured with a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do you travel with your jacks?

I think most of us don't travel with jacks on. I never do -- no need, for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West World Password Day

Today, being the first Thursday in May, is World Password Day! Do you know where your passwords are and where they've been...? I'm celebrating this Day by changing (and upgrading, as needed) the passwords on my most important accounts. You should consider doing similar if it's been too long.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maiden Voyage for the The Ted's Tiger

Looks like a great and fun rig, Ted! On another RV forum I've read lots of praise for the Omnia Oven. I've been using my Instant Pot as a sort-of oven -- works OK for cornbread and cake...but I think I may be adding the Omnia to my ovenless RV bag of tricks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

I've read the same thing about shortage of fuel-truck drivers. I'm thinking I should offer my services to help out the country. Now that I've towed a travel trailer across the country, there and back -- twice, I think I'm ready for driving the big rigs. B)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Well it's time to get rid of Winter and onto Spring

I didn't actually experience that temperature myself -- I was driving home from my long, long trip. But when I got home tonight, that's what they said on the local TV weather -- close to a record but not quite. But a cold front is moving in... In a couple of days the highs will be in the low 60s.
