RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advertisements

UPDATE: I just-now signed out and suddenly saw banner ads, pop-ups, etc. I signed in again and ads disappeared. So, yeah, confirmed. I'm using Chrome on Windows. I don't have any ad-blocker running.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advertisements

I just got a message from a WTW member asking, "What's with all the ads now....not good!?!". I didn't ask him if he was signed in when he saw them, but I will. FWIW: I have seen no ads myself.

...Too soon it will be time to hibernate. Some critters hibernate, some migrate south. But not quite yet... Despite shorter days, it hit 80F today here and similar highs are forecast through this weekend.

We have a return to "summer" this weekend in Bend. Good for some boaters and swimmers, I guess...but for me, even when I'm paddling my kayak, I don't need it warmer than 80. Back to autumn seasonal temperatures early in the week.

Rabbitbrush in bloom (this in my yard) is a sign of the season. Rabbitbrush, which bucks the trend of the spring-blooming masses, not afraid to take its own path in its own time, solo. Many times when I've camped in the Great Basin in autumn -- when temperatures are moderate, weather is...

CraggyMan, I assume you're referring to this "Horror Story". No, apparently we didn't need it. My truck's engine was running while submerged in the raging waters of Smith Creek and suffered no damage. But necessary or not, snorkels provide value in gnarlyness of appearance, the importance of...

I turned on my house furnace this evening, it's running now. Nope, not summer.

Parked on a main road (for several days) near my house. The whole rig appears to be for sale,... but this post is "Sightings", not "Gear Exchange".

Here it is noon, but it's only 54°F. Nope, it sure as heck ain't summer no more! (not today anyway...)

Similar here. And in my house this evening I'm wearing a fleece sweater, rather than turn the furnace on. Can't turn the furnace on in the summer. (it was 90 here earlier this week!) of course, tomorrow it won't be summer anymore...

Today and tomorrow in Bend are sticking with full-on summer temperatures (historical average high is 81°F), even at the end of meteorological summer. But it's nice to see that the first day of meteorological autumn, September 1, is set to represent the new season. This would be the lowest...

My 2005 Hawk had no lift assist struts, nor attachment points. I added all that myself.

I know that highs around 100°F would be normal for this time of year in a lot of California and might be considered mild in the desert Southwest. But here in Central Oregon, where the long-term-average highs now are mid-80s, we call it 'hot'. So, Monday I'm taking my travel trailer (and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Favorite signs you've come across while wandering?

Yep, "5-Man Electrical Band". For some reason their hit song occasionally pops up in my head. (But I'm really more sympathetic to the sign-posters than the long-hairs. :P)

The crazy thing, sort of, is that with it cooler I can open windows earlier in the evening to bring in cooler air... BUT... when I open windows I immediately smell the smoke strongly in the house.

Here in Bend we've gotten a break from our heat wave, temperatures forecast to be at or below averages. On the downside, smoke has moved in from fires to the south. Haziness is visible in just a hundred yards of viewing distance.

I have a 2022 F150 4x4 with the 3.5L Ecoboost. I love it. Unfortunately, I can't say how it would do carrying my FWC Hawk; it's my trailer-towing rig. That said, I get about 24 mpg (at 65 mph, neutral conditions) when NOT towing and about 14 mpg when towing my 19-foot, 4000-lb, Escape trailer...
