RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Ah/battery question

I run a small fridge/freezer during the day hours when the batteries are most charged and make my own ice blocks from old juice containers. I then unplug at night and throw in the cooler. This works great and makes it so I don't have to use energy at night.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB rear window for 80s Fleet

There is an RV salvage yard in Denver that has tons of used windows.. when I rebuilt an old grandby I was able to find what I needed.. its a pick through yourself kind of place.. but maybe you could call and ask... or if you are ever headed this way.. (I wouldn't make the trip just to go...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hitch mount bike racks

I would never consider putting my mountain bike on the front of my truck (yes, I buy expensive bikes because its what I do for recreation, a lot).. bugs and debris could seriously mess things up. IF that is not what your intentions are, seems like a decent solution. We use a Thule T2 with a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

This is a solid deal.. (I have a similar one).. buyer beware, it does not weigh 841.. guaranteed.. mine has a sticker that says 795 for a grandby shell and I can assure you it is closer to 1300

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West **SOLD** Brand new 2016 Four Wheel Hawk Camper

I think the price is low.. but.. a lot depends if you want a quick sale or not.. this market is really hard to determine pricing. You can always start high and see what happens..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford F-150 Hawk or Grandby (non shell) owners

hmmm.. I live at 5600 feet and most of my drives you have to go over 10000 feet to get anywhere cool, doesn't seem to be an issue with the 5.0 that I can tell..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ford F-150 Hawk or Grandby (non shell) owners

Agree with Jon. I have a 16 F150 supercab, 8 foot bed for our Grandby with heavy duty payload package (2611 lbs.) I have the 5.0 V-8 motor. Personally, I love the motor (had it on another truck).. its got plenty of power and gets solid MPG. Twin turbo is 2 more things to go wrong, and they...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West flush mount two burner stove?

I ended up putting this one in and I am pleased with the output, many more BTUs than the one I had in the old camper.. https://www.campingworld.com/dometic-drop-in-cooktop-117966.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw6fCCBhBNEiwAem5SOxa2n01tnhhMTXumTMJJmMQlI8fIwLSECKPpAQCfNbh104Qbrs5fMBoCaxsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Taking out Stove and sink

I would agree with Larry.. We cook outside whenever we can, but having the option to cook inside during inclement weather is really nice.. plus, once is a while a 3rd burner is nice (typically for rice for us)..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1st Gen Tundra Replacement...?

Obviously people love their Toyotas for good reasons, but they are so expensive used.. I think most well cared modern trucks will get over 200k with limited issues.. F150 supercab 6.5 bed with 5.0 motor.. thats my pick, have had 3 different ones and perfect reliability for me..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F150 2.7L payload package plus Hawk

I like your reasoning, I certainly would have went F250 if my camper was on full time, or I didn't need my truck for work. I also agree about the ecoboost motor.. I love the 5.0, it has plenty of power, gets solid mpg and is reliable..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I Drilled a Hole in the Roof

Depends where you are putting the solar panel I suppose.. In my old one, I placed it near the front so that I could run the wires to the battery and controller with as short of a length as possible.. I drill in front corner and used a solar wiring gland to cover the hole.. I carefully drilled...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F150 2.7L payload package plus Hawk

I originally had a 14 F150 super crew 6.5 bed and it had a payload of 1500. We had a Grandby Shell and could be right at weight.. with e rated tires and airbags, the truck was level and drove great. We got a newer Grandby and it was heavier so I bought a 16 F150 supercab with 8 foot bed and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Getting FWC down sloped driveway for storage

A grandby has a base floor of 4 x 8 feet, with the last 18 inches being wider (58 inches) after the wheel wells (2013 grandby) A Fleet is narrower in general, my old one was 37 inches wide (in order to fit between the wheel wells of a mid sized truck) and then wider after the wheel wells...
