RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removing floor on older Granby? To do or not.. or try

So.. My old Granby is all done and great.. but.. for whatever reason there are 3 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood on the bottom of it. My guess it was done to add a little height.. I would like to remove 2 for 2 reasons.. 1. I have a platform, but its just 2 by 4s and 1/2 inch OSB to get the camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Picked up a Project (90's Granby)

Yes, your pics give me PTSD.. haha.. worth it all! I had to get a new window for the front but other than that I didn't do anything except I used silicone in the corners where the trim had shrunk..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1980 Granby Rebuild for 2nd Gen Tacoma

Looking Good.. I spent a lot of time sitting in mine when it was like that trying to figure out the layout I wanted. I am pretty confident we nailed it, very happy with our layout. Like you I put as much weight in the front as I have an 8 foot camper on a 6.5 bed. I also did the slide out...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Kitchen, Mark II.

We also mostly cook outside, unless cold and rainy, or snowy.. We put a simple splitter from amazon on the tank and set the table up outside.. Also comes in handy when needing more than 2 burners, wife will cook rice or something that needs simmering inside..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Painting Camper resources

I had an old Fleet that I painted. Just used Rustoleum spray cans from home depot.. it came out great, people were shocked it wasn't a new camper. pretty easy and quick, did 3 light coats if I remember correctly.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Older Grandby “flip down” to “slide out” bed conversion

I have an old Granby that I converted to a slide it.. rather simple.. I will see if I can find pics.. I have a 4 inch memory foam mattress.. I do have to slide it out a bit to get the top to close, but not all the way. I also created a pulley system so that I can fold the mattress up while...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk or granby

FYI -- Some say you will get damage on tailgate if left down with longer camper.. I just checked mine yesterday. We have done 2, 3 week trips from Colorado to Baja in the last two years. Over 10000 miles in total and plenty of dirt roads. There is not a single chip in my tailgate.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk or granby

We have 6.5 bed f150 with Granby.. like the extra room. Ours however is built light .. 1000 lbs.. and therefore I don't think its an issue. Hardly notice it is there with airbags and good tires.. IF.. I had a fully loaded Granby I would want a bigger truck, but ours is not on full time and I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Leak chasing...

Where it comes from the roof, and where it enters are usually unrelated. As a roofing contractor, we chase leaks all the time. The water typically comes in from some penetration in the roof (screws? Vent? Rack ?) and then to get into the camper it needs a penetration in the headliner.. lights...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West '96? Hawk Shell "Build"

Good luck with the project.. I bought an old Granby in much worse shape last year and redid it from the frame, was a good time, sort of.. Anyhow.. take a look at the conduit lifters that Livning the Dream made.. I copied those and while they were a challenge, they work fantastically.. Here is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help identifying this camper

http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/16057-picked-up-a-project-90s-granby/ My Build thread... dont think it was a 90's after all, more likely older.. FYI.. if you buy it, I would count on a pretty extensive rebuild if it has any funky smells. I was hoping to keep some of mine but turned...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

From my understanding, the ecoboost is a beast for towing and hauling but MPG's suck under load. I have a 14 SC 6.5 bed with 5.0 motor and its amazing.. With camper on still gets 16-18 mpg.. its for sale by the way.. 66k and cheaper than the above mentioned f150

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1985 FWC Grandby rebuild

I like the look of that siding! The lifter mechanisms work great, they were, however, a total PITA to build.. lots of trial and error.. but glad I stuck with them. They are incredibly rigid when up. I also like that we were able to add a rear window to the canvas.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1985 FWC Grandby rebuild

I had another one. We used it for our first trip to Baja last year... The first one I got was an 80's Fleet.. I found it locally for pretty cheap. It was great, however, we have 2 dogs and felt it was just a little narrow so I bought the Granby for $500 and it fits the f150 a little nicer..
