RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rut roh, truck bed cracking at tie downs

I have a Grandby Shell with extras (1200 lbs) that sat on a 2016 F150 for 2 full Baja trips and had zero problems. I do think having bigger backing plates is the key.. I just got a new F150 and have decided to run the backing plates so that they sit on the cross member things on the front..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swing Away Bike Rack Step

Its tight, but might depend how wide your handlebars are. My wifes bike is an XS and it doesn't touch, mine is a medium and they don't touch, but when things get bouncy they hit the camper .. Easy enough to twist the bars a touch if needed

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone thinking about a new Truck

We own 3 vehicles. Truck - needed for our work (own a roofing company) and for our FWC. I drive a 2008 Prius for all my running around, not uncommon for me to drive 500-600 miles in a week during busy season. My wife drives a Kia EV6 that now has 21,000 miles on it. We have never charged it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cost of Repairing a New Truck

I just bought a 2023 F150 XL.. decided on the least equipped truck I could find in hopes of less going wrong.. (its still fancy though) I have never purchased an ESP, but to my surprise there was a $1250 rebate I wasn't expecting and I got them down to $2500 for a bumper to bumper 9 yr 90k...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any suggestions for a refrigerator/freezer for my Project M?

I bought one of those cheaper brands off amazon (alpincool) and have been 100% satisfied. Dual Zone so one side can be a freezer.. mine is not permanently mounted as I have it on the bench but can be put on the floor if I need to pull out the lower bunk..

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleet vs. late 90's Hawk on full size truck?

Well... Fleet is narrower, just depends on how much room you like. We started with an old 84 fleet shell, but it was the 7.5 foot model...felt narrow and small with 2 adults and 2 dogs.. Got a 85 Grandby I gutted and rebuilt.. felt bigger.. more open on the floor.. Now in a 2013 Grandby...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Rustic Restoration Project. Bringing a 1980-Something Grandby Back to Life

Nice! I have done two full restorations, and mostly from the info I got from you and the second one was SOOOOOOO much easier. Both came out absolutely great in my opinion but I learned so much from the first one the second one was a breeze (minus the conduit lifters, they are a total pain in...

I have had 3 - 5.0 motors, 2013 STX Supercab 6.5 bed, 2014 XLT SuperCrew 6.5 bed, and now 2016 XLT Supercab 8 ft bed HDPP. All 4x4, but first 2 had 3.55 gears. Both those trucks would easily get over 20 mpg on the highway empty up to 72 mph.. (best ever 24.5 Denver to Durango and back on one...
