RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Big Bend National Park

Just finished driving the backcountry River Road. I can't remember the site names but they were all great. They 4wd required but a friend did it in 2wd VW bus pulling a trailer. Now, maybe my favorite park.

Check out Aluminess. I have their aluminum front and rear bumpers and storage box. Not the cheapest option but they work very well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Touch up paint

Greetings I have a 2012 Eagle and with the amount of usage it has had, I have paint rubbing off in places where stuff rubs against it. Its white so I suppose white touch up paint would work but thought I would check to see what others have had success with. Cheers Kevin

Love mine. Live in Minnesota but have spent a lot of time in the Southwest. They are great on all terrains, especially aired down.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Installed Awnings

Based on the spec sheet on the FWC site, the Fiamma awning weighs in at 40 pounds. Have those rivets loosened at all? I certainly like that idea better than drilling through the frame and my Hannibal only weighs 25 pounds. Thanks for the info.

Captm Did you bolt it directly thru the cross piece? Aaron indicates that they now bolt awnings through to the interior and from the inside, you see the nuts and fender washers. Kevin

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Installed Awnings

Thanks so much for the responses. I failed to mention in my initial post that I already have a Hannibal awning and am simply looking to see what kinds of brackets FWC used. I doubt the Fiamma brackets will work but I will check them out. CaptM -- why did you have to move them up? I assume...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Installed Awnings

Greetings Does anyone have an awning installed by FWC? Specifically, one that is bolted to the passenger side. I have been in contact with Aaron at FWC and he tells me that they bolt 3 brackets through the side of the camper. There is a channel that is 5 inches wide that runs along the top...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is this the crank up jack I need

On my Eagle, I was concerned about the strength of the wood cross pieces. So I got some aluminum stock, about 1/8 thick and cut to the size of the wood cross pieces. They were placed behind the wood so they are invisible and add a lot of strength to the process. I also use wood blocks in the...

I have used nylon wing nuts in the past but have ever only been able to find them with right hand threading. Were you able to find left hand threaded ones, and if so, where? Cheers

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nightmares With Camping Neighbors

I have a friend who has come up with an interesting method for dealing with the annoying, noisy people in campgrounds. He is an early riser (think 5 AM) and always carries a supply of firecrackers with him. After he breaks camp and is on his way out, he gets as close to the offending campsite...

I have used this folding step stool from Harbor Freight for years. I stuck some no slip rubber on top. It folds flat or you can simply place it on the floor of the camper. And the price is right. :) http://www.harborfreight.com/step-stoolworking-platform-62515.html

Check out West Marine. Replaced them with something like these and I use the red lights...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West new ford f150 camper eyebolts install question

You should check in with FWC and see if they plan developing a mounting bracket similar to the one used for composite beds on Tacoma's. That bracket bolts thru the bed into the frame and is rock solid.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opened Turnbuckles

I have a Tacoma with the Composite bed so tying to that alone was not an option. I have a friend with the new F150 and I would be concerned about bolting a camper down thru that as well. Check and see if FWC is planning mounting plates for the F150 similar to what they have for the Tacoma...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opened Turnbuckles

I like this approach up to the point that the system has to be tight all the time. These campers weigh anywhere from 800 to 1500+ pounds and on my Tacoma, using FWC's bed mounting plates bolted to the frame, the camper doesn't move side to side much, if any. The biggest risk is movement up and...

The ones I got with the camper and supplied from FWC (2012) have aluminum bodies with steel threaded hooks.
