I am always surprised these threads never include discussion about Extreme Outback compressors. I have had one for ten years with many, many air down and up cycles and it never fails. Sure, they may be expensive compared to other brands but on at least 6 occasions, I have used mine to bail out...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bolting A Slide in FWC Hawk to a Flatbed Questions...

I have a Bundutec camper mounted on a flatbed. When I was deciding how to mount it, I kept thinking how tough it will be to align several relatively small bolt holes between the camper and flatbed. I opted to use Torklift tiedowns mounted from the camper jack brackets to the flatbed on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bundutec Side entry Flat bed

6 months out, we have over 50 nights in it. Nothing major to report. The only significant thing I had to do was replace the fridge drawer slides with heavier ones. Everything has worked as expected including the Truma furnace and the solar. I'm very happy with the build and would use Bundutec...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gray Water Tank Solution ?

I use the cheap foldable water containers. What I really like about them is they fold up and can be stuffed in an outside storage area rather than in the camper. I've seen some elaborate gray water solutions but not sure why. Use the right soap and you can dump virtually anywhere. Even Leave...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Supporting Jerry Can mounts on Jack brackets

The jack has a lot of leverage on that bracket. Catch the bottom of a jack on something solid and it will rip the corner off the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Supporting Jerry Can mounts on Jack brackets

Aren’t the jack brackets one of the strongest points on the camper? They carry the entire weight when the camper is off the truck. I’ve bolted a number of things to them and never had issues, on or off road.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A new take on a flatbed rear rack.

I looked at T-slot but am/was concerned that the slim head of that t-bolt was carrying a fair amount of weight, especially if the vehicle is traveling on uneven surfaces. An engineer suggested using square aluminum stock instead and bolting everything through that. Obviously, its not as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A new take on a flatbed rear rack.

Those jack brackets carry the weight of the camper when it’s on the jacks. It’s probably one of the strongest parts of the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A new take on a flatbed rear rack.

I made one out of square aluminum stock that mounts to the jack brackets. Holds MaxTraxx, fuel and water and a bike rack. I probably have less than $200 in the rack and it just survived a 7500 mile trip, including significant off road sections.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed Owners: Anyone Using External Turnbuckles vs. Through-Bolting?

I completely agree that turnbuckles are an inferior way to attach a camper. I’m using Fastguns which are much stronger and are used to mount campers weighing significantly more than mine.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed Owners: Anyone Using External Turnbuckles vs. Through-Bolting?

Well put. Given you are an experienced camper and flatbed owner, you obviously understand the mechanics and physics of the bolt thru method. My concerns are now that flatbed campers are becoming more popular, new owners might not have the same success you’ve had given your experience. I came...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed Owners: Anyone Using External Turnbuckles vs. Through-Bolting?

Out of curiosity, why is so much energy being expended on very creative ways to bolt a camper to a flatbed? Everyone who has written up a new idea admits that repositioning is going to be a royal PITA. Trying to line up 4 small contact points while balancing a 1000+ pound camper over it on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truma Combi & Propane to heat air and water?

We have had one in our Bundutec camper since October. It works extremely well, is very, very efficient and so quiet compared to traditional furnaces. And, since the water tank is surrounded by the furnace, hot water stays hot for a long time after shutting it off. It also takes up much less...
