RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Auxiliary or Driving Lights Mounted to Cabover Overhang?

Years ago had KC driving lights on my '77 Blazer, great pencil beams went a long way. I really don't drive my camper fast enough that I need more light. Now riding my motorcycle is different. Added PIAA 910's on my Honda ST1300 BIG light but when shut off you would experience what riders call...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ladder or step?

I built my own step out of sq tube. I had a short ladder buy I park many places that are not level. The receiver step is always in the same spot when I step out of the camper. Sorry, the best picture I could find on my blog. Click the pic and it will get BIG. I made the top step same height...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Battery care

If they could freeze I would go with option 2. However, you need to wire in Parallel to charge both at the same time. Series would give you 24v. + to + and - to - just be sure to hook the changer to the + on one batter and the - on the other battery.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC PHOTO CONTEST 1ST PLACE WINNER! question :)

Copied from the FWC Owners FB page Peter Mason took the picture: Peter Mason This image is a long exposure. Quarter moonlight paints the foreground and the camper. The interior was lit with an LED lantern with several layers of ND filter to reduce its brightness. The digital file was processed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC PHOTO CONTEST 1ST PLACE WINNER! question :)

The person who won gave some detail on what he did. My daughter is a pro photographer she agreed with what he said. She is also an expert at Photoshop. One image but quite a bit of work done to bring out the detail.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery advise

Stokeme, I like your set up. Keep us posted on how it works. I have a 150w and 100w panels on the roof feeding a Victron 100/20 MPPT controller. Curious why you wired parallel from the panels and not series to take advantage of the MPPT taking a higher voltage. I rewired my set up to series to...

I looked up Obsidian CG as I had never been there. Google showed me where and I know I have ridden by the turn to the campground 100+ times. Did find an interesting picture on street view. Anyone on WTW made Google Maps?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery advise

Good read. “In theory there is no difference between theory and practice; in practice there is.” Below really made me think if I want Lithium as 100 degree days happen a lot in the central valley: "But while brainstorming potential causes for our diminished capacity recently, Elite let me...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery advise

I have been following the lithium battery threads. A year ago I was convinced I would go lithium when my 2013 AGMs died. Not sure anymore. 5 + years and my AGMs are still working fine. I do have 250watts of solar with a Victron MTTP set to charge AGMs. This keeps them charged all the time. For...

Saw several FWCs on our trip to see the Fall Foliage off of 395. Saw the three campers in the pictures at the top of Rock Creek Canyon. One Hawk was parked next to me and I stopped on the way out to take the picture of the Gramby and the second Hawk. I did leave my card on each rig.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

All true. I had a 100w panel with a 30amp PWM. Needed more and it was way cheaper to buy and add a 150w panel than to add an MPPT controller. Worked fine. MPPT controllers are now 1/2 of what they were so if starting fresh I would go MPPT and 24v panels. I added a Victron MPPT only because it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

Wallowa, easy answer. PWM convert voltage over what is needed to heat. So if the panel is putting out 19v the PWM will chop off at say 14v and 5 volts will go to heat. This is why PWM controller all have a heat sink. Amps from the panel will stay the same. MPPT controller takes the extra volts...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West OK I goofed :(

Yes, just a board on top to spread the pressure. I do have several large over 12" C clamps. I would be careful pulling on the edge, Too much pressure the alum could move quickly and your bend will be in the opposite direction and may crack the alum tube.
