RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kidde fire extinguisher recall

NOTE: The new bracket is to hang the extinguisher on, it will swing in the camper. Off road it may fall off or at least bang the cabinet. I cut the strap part off the old bracket and added a hole for a screw. Looks like it will work OK. See pictures below.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kidde fire extinguisher recall

Just got one of my extinguishers today. Came with a return shipping label and instructions to put old extinguisher in the box and to call Fed Ex for pick up. I had two and only got one. So I called and was told they are only being shipped out one to a box so may arrive on another day.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bill's FWC Hawk build.

What Sagebrush said. I have the equipment and background to run the gas lines not that hard to do. Get some bubble solution to check all your joints. If you don't have one, get a propane detector and remember they have a limited life of about 5 years. They will start beeping when too old.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Weighing my FWC options (shell vs standard; fleet vs swift; now vs later) help talk me through it pl

I would look into borrowing a set of jacks. Most of us have them off most of the time. See if anyone has a camper near you. If you see a camper not just a pop up in your area talk to the owner about borrowing or renting their jacks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk roof repair

I straightened the roof on my old 2002 Hawk with two wood blocks 2x4 and a BIG C-clamp. Bend was in the front so I clamped from below the overhang to the top of the roof. The aluminum moves easy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My First FWC... How many custom "Shell" builds are there?

Seat brackets came with the used shell I purchased. The shell had a front dinette that is no longer made. FWC did sell the brackets $150 a pair in 2013. I highly recommend the brackets, only down side is if in the bed position you will feel them setting on the edge.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My First FWC... How many custom "Shell" builds are there?

Welcome to WTW. Several of us have done custom builds to shells. I thought I was going to do a front dinette. After the wife and I visited FWC in Woodland and got inside both the front and side dinettes I did another side dinette. Wife did not like how little room to stand there was in the front...

Try opening a window or changing your heater from inside to outside air. My Hawk on a 2005 Tundra make a lot of noise, a lot. Found if the window was open a little it got much better. I now use a wind fairing and no noise.
