RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Two-Pin 12-Volt connector pin?

The 2 pin looks similar to one made by Cole Hersey. https://www.amazon.com/Cole-Hersee-M-121-BP-2-Pole-Connector/dp/B0000AXR5O Another company that has one like it is Perko, available online or through West Marine.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wow, a hidden tax in Colorado

To expand on Rando's "federal annual pass" idea, I'd like to see a federal fishing license. I hate having to buy a fishing license from every state I visit on long trips. Or maybe a reciprocity agreement between some states, not unlike carry permits for handguns.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tenkara Rod

I like my Tenkara rod when out hiking along small creeks, compact and soooo light. Broke the 2nd section last summer. Covid making getting a replacement section a slow process. Might have to invest in a new rod if the part continues to be elusive

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lift panel structural failure

To clarify my my suggestion; leave the old but have the new heavier aluminum angle or C channel sections(full vertical length) carry the load.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ladders

Thinking of adding a ladder to the equipment list, I want to be able to access surfboards and other roof items without lowering the roof. If you carry a ladder, what type/brand ladder is it, + and -, height, cost, of your ladder. I'm primarily interested in the telescopic type.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lift panel structural failure

While steel will work, why not use heavier wall aluminum. Lighter and much easier to work with. You might be able to straighten the old piece and reinforce with a new section instead of complete replacement. Beefier or new struts might be a good remedy also.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hellwig Pro Series on Silverado

I had helper springs on a Tundra but if i had to do it again would go with a full spring pack. Since your truck was also avail. in a 2500 series, you might want to check to see if a used pair of springs from a 2500 will fit without any mods. You might even be able to install springs complete...

Wood frame. Its not just the just the rot but termites and other wood boring insects you have to contend with.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to add a 12 volt socket, need help

Option #1: You could combine the new 12v outlet(positive wire) with the old 12v outlet position(orange wire) that is already in in use. Disconnect the orange wire at the fuse panel, install a double male spade adapter and piggy back the new 12v outlet positive wire and the orange wire to the...

Go with the spring packs(not add a leaf) and try it without the airbags, you can add the bags later if needed. I haven't used the 5100 series shocks but I've run Bilstein 4600 shocks on both the trucks my Hawk has been on with no issues although I don't get into a lot of wash board roads or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need help wiring from camper to truck battery

Assuming you will be charging a house battery in the camper. I would use a single breaker for circuit protection since breakers can be readily reset. It should be installed within the first couple feet of the battery. Wire size depends on long a run you have to the camper and how much voltage...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic 3-way: freezer frozen, fridge not so cold

Its not unusual to only get a 40-45 degree differential between ambient temp and the inside of the fridge on a 3 way system. I use a digital thermometer to track fridge temp. Temperature readings will differ depending on where I put the sender in the fridge, ie: on the door or back of the middle...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Strap paddleboard to camper roof with no rack?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC In Our Hawk

I have a 5k BTU a/c in the ex rear window of my Hawk. It was installed by the previous owner and works well. Doesn't appear to have any extra bracing installed except 2 right angle shelf brackets(through bolted) on the outside. The only problem so far was a small water leak during heavy rain...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attaching things to the roof (or back!) of a Hawk

Mounting to the rear is ok for certain items but I wouldn't put a stroller there unless you have a travel bag/cover for it. First time you drive down a dirt road during a rain event you'll have it caked with mud. I had mine bikes so covered you couldn't tell what color they were. Even on paved...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any reason to not put house battery in engine compartment?

Voltage drop can be kept to a minimum with the correct wire size. If you plan on using solar to recharge the house battery you need to increase the wire size from the controller(if the controller is in the camper) to the battery or a tie in point to the house battery circuit as well to prevent...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tips on Installing Camper Jacks

I would cut the trim off to install the brackets. If you clean all surfaces and bed the brackets, caulk the screw holes(new holes and any screws removed for cutting the trim) there is no reason you should have any leaks. Use a quality polyurethane caulk, I like 3m 4200 or 5200. Be sure to use...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar...

Paul's post brings up a good point in that you must have a large enough battery bank to supply your needs during times of low or no output from your panel. I get by with a 55 ah single battery, most folks here with a fridge and other accessories running on 12v will be at a minimum 150 ah...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar...

What are you planning to run off the solar? I get by with 60 watts but run my fridge on propane. We run the fridge fan, LED lights, cpap, and charge cell phones off the house battery, plus we're on the road every few days so the truck provides charging as well. My system was already installed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Rain Water Collection

Should work if you keep your canopy sanitized and let it rain a bit before collecting to allow for the dust/dirt to rinse off first. Personally I wouldn't do it and store it in my main water tank and use it as potable water, to big a chance to get some undesirable intestinal aliment.
