I lower the top completely, then push up a bit on the panel till the latch aligns. Never thought about trying to do it while the roof was lowering(in motion).

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Resealing Roof Seam - 2005 Hawk

Note to my above post. Tape is removed immediately after leveling the sealant. DO NOT let it cure and try to remove tape afterwards or it will be a problem.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Portable Heating

Looking for a small portable propane heater for my Hawk. I don't want to go through the trouble/expense of mounting a permeant vented unit since we rarely would use it. Doesn't get super cold here in Texas but sometimes I find us out in the high 20s-low 30s. Don't need to heat the camper much...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Resealing Roof Seam - 2005 Hawk

Did a similar repair to a friends trailer roof. We used a 3M poly blend used for sealing semi trailer seams but 5200 or 4200 would work fine. We thoroughly cleaned the surface and wiped with solvent, taped off with 2" wide solvent proof masking tape, squirted out a heavy bead of sealant which we...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Calling all Battery Gurus

I have a Noco 7200 also and have never had an issue with over charging with lead acid or AGM batteries, so I have a couple questions for you: When the Noco is connected and in maintenance mode what voltage are you seeing on the monitor? Does this match what the battery manufacturer recommends...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many watts solar will I need to run my Norcold fridge

You'll need a trailer with a solar array and enough batteries to power a golf cart to generate/store enough power to keep up. Propane is the way go. You might be surprised how little propane the fridge uses. I can run the fridge for 2- 2.5 weeks on the 20 lb tank depending on outside temp. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Raising or Lowering FWC Top In Below Zero [F].

Wallowa you are correct the "canvas" I refer to is a pvc based fabric. I just use the term canvas as a generic.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Raising or Lowering FWC Top In Below Zero [F].

While I don't camp in the above mentioned extreme conditions here in the south, we do get out in freezing weather on occasion and I have noticed the canvas is not as pliable as when warm. I have to pay close attention to how well it tucks in when lowering the top. I am curious if any of you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk + 1/2 Ton Truck Owners...

It is doable. I had mine on a 1st gen tundra with the 4.0 six cyl. for 3 years before moving to a 3/4 ton. You'll need to modify the rear suspension and up grade tires and shocks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pros and Cons of Second Truck Battery

My 2 cents is to go for the single battery(largest capacity you can get) with the high output alt.. Carry a lithium jump pack for the rare occasion you might need it. I have always carried a jump pack and have only used it twice(if my aging memory is correct) in the past ten years for my own...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire Pressure Alert

Vic, I'm suggesting that anyone heading out during a cold spell or once colder temps are in place for the season, check and adjust pressure. When weather warms, yes you will need to adjust as needed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire Pressure Alert

Winter is coming on, temps running lower, check your tire pressures. Just checked mine and found an average of 4-5 lb. drop since the cold front. Don't forget the spare. Happy camping

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Maintainer Question

Is the truck equipped with an isolation relay that is only energized(sending charge to the camper) while the motor is running? If so equipped then you will not be charging the camper battery(unless you want to run the motor the whole time also). I would get a stand alone maintainer or a good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Custom interior build in Bison overland shell

Another thing to think about is weight distribution. Batteries and water tank(if you go that route) should be fwd as much as design allows for. Also, If you install an electrical system you'll need to first figure out your power requirements, will you need both A/C and D/C or just a D/C system...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to: install used truck camper purchased from a private seller

I will add, what ever method you use, check the tie downs for looseness on the way home. Camper will "settle in" first 50- 100 mi. and might require tightening. Then check periodically after that.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck Camper Shell - AGM Batteries Install

I would remove the unnecessary battery/chassis ground as it serves no purpose. I would add a fuse or breaker between the batt switch and fuse panel, especially if that run is more that a couple ft.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to: install used truck camper purchased from a private seller

If it's equipped with jacks or if you can rent/borrow some you can do it yourself(two people is best). Google truck camper tie downs, if you want a off the shelf system or do like many here and purchase turnbuckles and eye bolts from your local hardware store or online. You might want to find...

"12mpg not weighted and probably 8-10mpg with a loaded camper" We have a 2012 F250, 6.2 gas/Hawk. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic 3 way a DC power hog!

Unless plugged into shore power, my fridge stays on propane. It'll run on propane(20 lb tank) minimum 2 weeks depending on ambient temp. Some folks here have had problems with the flame blowing out while driving but I've never had that problem. Just remember if you use propane while driving and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Siding replacement

If you replace with new aluminum skin, get marine grade(corrosion resistant), I believe it is 6061 grade. use zinc chromate primer with a compatible 2 part top coat. Predrill all holes if possible before painting.
