RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opinions on 2WD V6 Work Truck Silv.1500/F150 etc.

I bought a 06 Tundra with a 4.0 six in it because all the specs said it would get better mileage than the V8. If I had it to do over I to get a small V8 or maybe an eco boost 3.5. That small 6 cyl. works hard and the fuel savings just isn't there. Side note: the bigger motor can/will allow you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lightly used 3/4 ton for Hawk - Any recs?

I moved from a 06 Tundra access cab with a Hawk to a lightly used(41k) 2012 F250 super cab 4x4 gasser, I am quite pleased with the resulting rig. If you can find the same truck in a 350 configuration, I'd say go for it. Be sure to check out the cab to frame bushings on the Fords as they are a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A truck companion for a FWC 2011 Eagle.. Any Advice?

I'm with Vic, use it n your current truck for a couple trips. Should give you some insight as to whether you want to stay with that size truck or move on to another. My own 2 cents would be to stay full size. If Toyota is your thing, lot of folks here with Tundras.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Shell Electrical Questions: Shore power and more

I will add, there are several variables to the answer on #1. Battery type, battery size, temperature of battery, alt. output, volt drop from alt. to the battery, how low was the battery. Yes a battery monitor is great to have and provides usable data, however it is not imperative to have one. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cooper Discoverer ATP/AT3 Tires - a Personal Critique

4 years on Cooper ATPs, no problems. Tried the BFG KOs but they had to much sidewall flex, felt squishy, even at max pressure(80 psi). Both brands were E range

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overcharge Alarm on National Luna

Not being familiar with your camper solar system wiring or how the truck is wired into the charge system, I will offer this. Go back and methodically checked all battery connections, be sure all is correct. check to see the batteries are wired correctly in parallel and NOT in series(24volt). The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best Sealant to use.

Use a polyurethane of some type for sealing screws. A lot of folks here use 3M products like 5200, 4200 or 4000. 5200 is very permanent and hard to remove if you need to but if you want max bonding as well as sealing it is very good. Always cleaning any surface before applying. I have no...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used FWC Hawk maintenance

Never apply products to the fabric that have petroleum listed on the label. It will leach into the coating and can attack the adhesive over time or preclude you from getting adhesive to bond when repairing. Any good PVC boat adhesive/fabric will work for what you are doing. Remember you are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mount “ditch spots” on tow hooks? / legality / clamps?

Don't know what year your truck is but my 2012 f250 has a plastic plug in the unused fog/driving light cutout on the front bumper. Do you have the same or is it already used?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pop-up Camper for 2005 Tundra

I had a loaded hawk on a 006 access cab with the 4.0l motor for 2 years, so the answer to question is yes, it will work on your Tundra. Be aware of the rucks short comings(brakes come to mind) and respect them. Up grades would be E range tires, HD shocks(i like Bilsteins) and up graded springs...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Prospective buyer: Hawk or Grandby?

If you are a bit of a minimalist the hawk should work fine and you could take a look at putting it on a F150 crewcab( more cab for the g.f.) since it is avail. with the HD payload option. As a few people have mentioned, the Grandby has more storage and room inside, but will also be heavier as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West fabric sticks out after lowering top

What larry said, works very well. I do sometimes have a small area along the front which requires extra attention during cold weather because the fabric isn't as pliable as it is when warm.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Possible Roof Leak

Is this while the camper is just sitting or when driving or both? My leak was when driving and was fixed by refurbishing the rubber seal where the roof lowers down to. If it leaks while sitting, try removing and reinstalling roof screws with a bit of polyurethane sealant. I live in a humid...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West bumper MOUNTS front 2020 SuperDuty F350 100% same as 2019?

Have you looked to see if bigger companies like Ranch Hand etc. list the same part numbers for the 2019 and 2020 bumpers and or mounting parts/brackets. If part numbers are the same I would think you would be good to go.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC - Project M

If those had been avail. 7 years back, I would have one instead of my Hawk(which I do like mucho). It would have been a better set up on my first gen Tundra, which has been replaced with a F250.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2020 Ford Superduty

According to Ford the new 7.3 was developed primarily for their fleet customers. Simple 2 valve push rod motor, cost effective to maintain. They claim it will get as good or better mpg as the 6.2 since it won't have to works as hard. I do agree with Machinebuilder though, i will wait on real...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping tent for family?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I have a screw loose.

Fill old holes with 3M 5200, insert larger screws if they are required to attach roof skin. Tighten by hand only, being careful not to strip. Once dried the 5200 will seal and anchor the screws in place. Another option if the holes are to far gone is to drill new screw holes next to the old...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Prospective buyer here. Will a base F150 and a FWC Shell model work?

Get the payload package if avail. on the model you decide on. Don't short change yourself on the engine as the smaller ones work harder which will affect MPGs.
