RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Recommendations for Death Valley Yosemite and more

120, 108, & 4 will all be closed until May (hopefully) so getting over the Sierra is problematic. Highway 1 is a must do lifetime bucket list item but it is not a quick road at all. 101 isn't bad but 5 or 99 is fastest if more boring. So I would say Oakland first since you'll be on 80 or 50...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shade House / Screen House recommendations please

This is the one I am thinking about getting. http://www.busdepot.com/details/awning/ I really like the crowned top instead of just hanging a tarp out there. But I am finding that most of my trips I don't sit still long enough to warrant putting up anything.

Missing Link - what is the red tarp over the clam. Looks like it has cross poles over the top. I am looking for something like that for my "back porch".

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Panther on the drawing board

jimjxsn Check with ATC about a Reno delivery. They will take it there (for a fee I believe) which saves you big time in California Sales tax. If you are not a California resident you can get away with it. But they will know the details.

If you place it over the bed it cannot be used when the lid is lowered. But it is delightful to adjust without getting out of bed. Why not two?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HOW MANY NIGHTS DID YOU CAMP IN 2016?

Definitely a journal. I can feel the brain cells dying daily and want something to refresh my memory when I can no longer get out there. But I do like the idea of keeping a calendar in the rig, too. Simpler to check. And I do a blog after most trips, also. All part of the experience.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Geezer card increase

Well, my original goal of informing people who might not know about the card to get theirs ASAP to maximize cost efficiency has been met. I agree with the many people who say it is a bargain even at the $80 (or going rate in the future). Our public lands are a great treasure and deserve all the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Geezer card increase

So the House and Senate are getting set to raise the price of our beloved Geezer card ( from $10 to $80, or whatever the yearly rate for the Interagency Pass is in the future). Not sure if they will listen to input from constituents or not, but it is worth a shot...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Portable Fridge for Panther

Remember you don't need room for ice. Also things like drinks can be added as you use (at some cost to efficiency) which frees up space. I think you are aiming too big. Remember it also takes up precious space. Smaller is sometimes better. Sent from my iPhone using Wander The West

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Winter Camping Advice

As I pack for a little winter jaunt, I realized I need to pack more books, etc. The days are mighty short and chilly, so I retreat into the camper earlier than in the summer. So you must have some form of entertainment or you will go stir crazy. Not quite the direction of the post, but my two...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Panther on the drawing board

I have a Dometic 40L. When I noticed that 4 gallon water bottles fit perfectly, I now use them with the tops cut off leaving the handle on to organize my cold food storage. No wasted space at all and I can easily find what I need. One for drinks, one for lunch stuff, etc. I think they are...

Perhaps that’s what I learned on this trip: to take one step at a time, not to give credence to the future unknowns, and watch for cairns – the markers of where others have gone and suggested a reasonable path. There's your epiphany. That sounds like a great formula for making a great life...
