RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West White Rim Trail - Canyonlands NP - April 2017

First thanks for the Write-up , I never get around to doing those, much more interested in planning the next trip. I hear The Maze calling my name :D I had the largest rig and never scraped. I do have air bags on the back and maybe slightly oversized from stock tires but no lift. There are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fuel Cans

Another user of the AT Gas Can Holder and Bracket. Survived out to Tuweep and back and a trip around the White Rim Trail with no ill effects. Don't have any good pictures handy but the jack bracket and aluminum plate coming from underneath seems to be very effective.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's New?

Well after a couple recent trips where I've really enjoyed shooting again I succumbed to the perils of lens lust and picked up a Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 and a Tokina 100mm f/2.8 macro. Now need to look at replacing my well work but beloved D200 with something that will shoot at higher ISO, maybe a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hiking Utah (or close by) OUTSIDE of National Parks

Buckhorn Draw and the Wedge Overlook in the San Rafael Swell are accessible by most cars. I think a fit could make it. There is dispersed camping in the draw in addition to the Swinging Bridge CG and there are designated sites at the overlook. VotG would be another place to consider though...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West propane tank certification

I just had a 25ish year old tank recertified. It is the 11# pancake style, had the valve changed over when they did that however many years ago. It fits under the couch of the Grandby and I use it for the propane fire now so as long as it keeps passing $10 is cheaper than a new tanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West wind noise while driving with truck camper?

With my Tundra-Grandby combo I had a lot of wind noise from about 30-50some mph. Put a wind deflector on the cab and voila wind noise is all but gone. A big part of it will be dependent on the gap between the cab and the camper overhang.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sightings thread

Friday, April 7th saw a dark, full size truck with a hawk I think eastbound on I-70 in Utah trailering a white Jeep. Guessing they were headed to the madness of Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. Saw many other FWC's and ATC's on my 3 week journey but that was the last one that really stood out.

Used one through the year last season and was pretty happy with the performance. Needs new batteries now but made it through April-September last year.

If you want road reports for GSENM there is a link on the right side of that page that will take you to a .PDF file with the most current report. The last report dated 3-08-17 shows the road to Bullfrog Marina, The Notom-Bullfrog Road and The Burr Trail all recently graded and passable to 2WD...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HID Headlights

With the amount of time I seem to spend driving two lane roads that are either open range or full of large four legged critters that could ruin your evening if they stepped in front of the truck I decided I wanted to brighten things up a bit. After talking to several of the shops around town...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Usage

With mine I only have a single, horizontal bottle and the gauge is very inaccurate. I've written on it where the full point is and that when the needle reaches 'E" i have about a gallon left. I did run out once and now carry a steak saver, wasn't so much that the night was cold but getting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire Recommendations

Went from the Cooper AT/3's to the ST Maxx about a month ago. Got 50,000 miles out of the AT/3's and if I approach that with the new shoes I'll be happy. The old tires were great and never really felt like there was anyplace where they were holding me back, the biggest reason for going to the...

If the ferry is running you could always turn off at Boulder and drop down the Burr Trail and the Notom-Bullfrog Rd then take the boat across to Hall's and up to 95. Won't be any faster, but you'll see some new country. Information on the Hall's Ferry can be found here, looks like it's...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where are hot springs West of the Mississippi, East of Las Vegas?

Goldbug is probably my favorite soak of all time, it also goes by the name Elk Bend Hots Springs. There are lots of Hot Springs around Stanley, ID that are right off the road yet relatively primitive in nature. There are also several springs off the road between Stanley and Banks including...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Meanwhile in Utah

I hate the idea of punishing the small businesses because of what the politicians have done/are doing. I have friends there who guide and work in other tourism dependent industries and realize that a boycott will hurt the small towns where many like minded individuals live and that will further...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra/fwc

'08 Tundra with a Grandby so a bit heavier that you are talking about. Run E rated tires and airbags. Don't feel like I'm overloaded at all, have a small offroad trailer that I tow on occasion have also towed some travel trailers and boats while the camper is on, no issues. Have taken the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Meanwhile in Utah

I think there may be a secondary and much darker motive behind the proposal for a state park. If they pave the road out to accommodate buses and RV's then it will also be able accommodate heavy equipment that would be required to haul coal off of the Kaiparowits Plateau. For anyone who is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quikfire

I had asked about the grill and they said to just use a folding leg grill that will clear the pan. Not sure that I want to grill over it anyways so that wasn't a concern for me. On ExPo there is some discussion about using a manifold that allows for two 1# canisters to be connected and then...
