RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No Destination : hoyden and two dogs hit the road full-time

The idea came off a Dirtbagdiaries.com podcast it goes something like: 1=North 2=South 3=East 4=West 5= Cross the nearest state border 6= Stay put/ explore the local area The one rule being no backtracking so if you go north one day you can't go south the next... You can set the actual...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West best way to find free/dispersed camping sites

Another set of paper maps worth looking at are the Trails Illustrated maps also available on Amazon and frequently available at BLM, FS and NP offices. They are more area specific and therefore generally at a better scale than many other maps but you need more of them but really can you have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie question about tires - Tundra/Hawk

Will do. The Cooper's have been great for me, also looking at the Kumho Venture AT51. Not sure how soon I'll pull the trigger, have a White Rim Trail and possible Tuweep trip coming up in the spring so might be nice to have them before that. Now back to the regularly scheduled thread...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie question about tires - Tundra/Hawk

Wallowa nailed it. E series for the extra sidewall strength/durability. Mine is a heavier load but I went from C to E and am very happy I did. Just getting ready to start shopping for the next set of tires as these (Cooper A/T3's) are getting close to 50,000 miles on them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HOW MANY NIGHTS DID YOU CAMP IN 2016?

About 60 +/- Not real good about keeping track of all the nights, especially the ones where I bug out after work and come back into town the next morning. Maybe that should be a resolution for next year but never been very good about making resolutions either :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West installing read fold out steps

I've gone from a collapsible step to a e step step stool and now have scissor steps that attach below the door. Found the scissor steps on the local craigslist and picked up the bracket at a local RV supply store. There are still times I just step on the hitch and pull myself in. Part of it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alaska or Bust

North Idaho has some places right off 90 at the border where you cross Lookout Pass. Not too hard to get far enough from the freeway to get a good nights sleep. If you want to drive a bit further then up along the Coeur d'Alene river there are some great camping spots and both the Pritchard...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Good WtW way to get to Bullfrog Marina from Needles District?

I've seen snow in the Abajos into June, April would be hit or miss, all depends on what kind of year they have had for snow and the recent temps, no snow and freezing would be great as otherwise it could be a muddy mess up high.

Some poking around on the recreation.gov site for one of the sites in Loop D (Site 31) yielded this: has little shade. is for tents and small camping vehicles only. has a picnic table and a fire pit with a grill attached. You can have a maximum of THREE TENTS at this campsite. No recreational...
