We have the ones in Steve's link. Definitely not waterproof except for maybe a light drizzle.

Steve, Interestingly, Roseann and I have given two of these a pretty good workout over the last two years. We fly back and forth to our place in Fairbanks, and have to bring all our books for sale, and other business stuff, each time. Both cases have survived airline baggage handling multiple...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jerry Cans - The secret Weapon

Interesting. In 30 years of using this style can, the only time I've experienced what you describe was when either the spout's or the can's vent tube/orifice was too small. In the review I linked this was demonstrated to absurd lengths by the cheap spout that only had a punched hole near the end...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jerry Cans - The secret Weapon

Steve (Wandering Sagebrush) and I discussed this this morning. There is no absolutely need for the breather tubes to mate. The spout's breather feeds air into the can which the can's tube sucks in effectively.

Brief chemistry lesson following on Thom's comment: Generally, it's not the fuel that burns but the vapor it generates. Gasoline vaporizes at -45ºF; diesel vaporizes at +120ºF, which is why it is so much safer.

Interesting; I've never run into this problem with some pretty old (though undated) German cans. Please do give us photos!

After all the discussion here, I decided to do a comparison test of the dump rates of spouts for the NATO can. The results were enlightening. Review here. Jonathan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone changed out the water tank for a smaller one?

If it's up in front in the center it should be the 20-gallon version. The 12-gallon tanks were on the left side in the cabinet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone changed out the water tank for a smaller one?

The only thing I ever wished about our tank was that it was bigger! However, the original FWC tank was 12 gallons, I think (although in a different spot). You might ask them. Otherwise there's no reason you couldn't adapt a generic tank. Don't blame me if you do it and are sorry . . .

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rethinking the Toyota’s tires

Tom, It's been a long time. I believe they might have been these, which you can still get at a Toyota dealer. They are the same wheels on our Troop Carrier now. It should be easy to check backspacing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ARB Twin Compressor on ‘19 Tundra

Congratulations! The ARB Twin is the best compressor on the market in my opinion. Given an engine-compartment mounting, I suggest opening the hood anyway when employing the compressor. The Twin is a fan-cooled unit, and while leaving the hood closed and engine on probably wouldn't damage it, it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rethinking the Toyota’s tires

We had 235/85x16 BFGs on our pre-Tacoma Toyota pickup. They worked perfectly. Certainly no clearance issues. The size is fine for sand; airing down lengthens the tire footprint far more than widening it. We traversed the Abu Moharek dune chain in Egypt in Land Cruisers on 235/85x16s.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West im new here! looking to see (or not) if this is a fair deal

Wildcat is absolutely correct regarding GVWR on the Tacoma. As he mentioned, some people are comfortable exceeding that with appropriate suspension, etc.—I've done it myself. But extreme caution is advised, and as you have a child, even more caution is advised.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West im new here! looking to see (or not) if this is a fair deal

If it's as represented that won't last long. It would be simple to rig a safety bar for the bed. The owner is being honest about fuel economy. The double cab has enough room for a child to grow.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West custom springs questions

I don't recommend add-a-leaf kits, which can add stress risers in spots the original springs weren't designed for. I think the Deaver Stage 2 plus heavier shocks will be your correct choice. If you add them beforehand you'll have a really bouncy ride until the camper is on; if you wait you'll be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2019 Tundra with ATC Ocelot has rear bounciness

If your truck rides level with the camper on, the issue is far more likely to be shocks than springs, and adding air bags won't accomplish much if anything (neither will Timbrens). It's the shock absorber that attenuates spring oscillations such as you describe.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West White Duck bell tent and REI Trailgate reviews on OT&T

I've recently posted a couple of reviews on Overland Tech and Travel that might be of interest to some here. First is one covering a 10' diameter canvas bell tent we used on a trip up the Dalton Highway, and which quickly became a new favorite. It's here. Next is the REI Trailgate, a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire Width - Which is Better?

We crossed the entire Abu Moharek dune chain in Egypt in 70-Series Land Cruisers riding on 235/85x16 BFG/AT tires. They do just fine in sand if you air them down. We run this size on our own Troopy and FJ40 as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Check Your Jump Starter

Neither Lithium Ion nor LiFePo4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries should be trickle-charged by a charger that constantly forces a small current into the battery. They should be charged to capacity, then disconnected. On the other hand I understand they can be float-charged if the charger...
