RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nerve racking roads

This "road" will definitely get your attention. If your not a fan of shelf roads and 1,000' drop offs next to steep! descents stay away. But scenery is off the charts....Webster Pass, Redcone and Radical Hill Colorado. The following links contain more info and much better images than mine...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outdoor shower worth it?

My solution was a bug spray solar shower and a pop up shower tent. Works fine.....simple and cheap.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Hawk on New GMC 2500

I recently removed my valance/air dam/snow plow. An air wrench and 20 or 30 bolts later it was in the trash. You wouldn't want to be taking it off and on. I figure I already have the ultimate air dam....my Hawk. As far as gas mileage, I can't tell any difference.

Welcome to WTW Rich. Met you at your rally in Glacier a couple years ago...had great time! I was the only pop up in the group.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Hawk on New GMC 2500

Nice choice of truck and camper but I am biased! A new Hawk does deserve a brand new truck....I did the same. Nice color match on yours...I went for the gray stripe. GM greystone metallic was a perfect match.

Wow....All hail and welcome to the GREAT Whazoo. Your trip reports are a thing of beauty and i was shocked to see what happened over "there". Their loss our gain! The most moving thing I have ever read on any forum was your tribute to your dog Bear....that really struck a chord with me. Again...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Satellite Radio Antenna

The stock GM position on mine works pretty good. It is the sail antenna on the drivers side next to the clearance light. You do need that southern exposure though. Sometimes when driving due north on down hills mine will breakup.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Lift / leveling kit question

My thought would be/might be acceptable with an upgrade in tires....at least D but preferably E. Lift kit would be my last choice. If the camper is to be mostly on full time I would look into a rear spring rebuild. Chill and drive it before you get too carried away.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Favorite signs you've come across while wandering?

Ran across this in Polebridge, Montana a year or two ago. Luckily I didn't need any. Paid $1.89 yesterday in Denver......this maybe the year for the Alaska highway.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No Key? No Problem!

Don't tell anyone but I use a couple of these flashing led fake alarm lights to supplement my OEM alarm which has no flashing warning. I have dark tint added to both the truck and camper windows so all you see is the flashing lights. I figure it can't hurt and less than ten bucks...

These signs definitely got my attention as two people had been killed and one injured prior to my visit.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Favorite signs you've come across while wandering?

Nope...northwest on 318, then north on county dirt to Irish Canyon, and if so inclined, on to Rock Springs, WY 120 miles total. As far as services there is an outhouse at the entrance to Irish Canyon. I wouldn't give it my 5 star recommendation. Ski....would that offer include retired military...

I was about a mile out of Maybell Colorado when I came across this. Love northwest Colorado. Eighty some miles further it got even better. Almost there. Finally....no more signs. Any signs that struck a chord with you?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk - 2006 Tundra Dcab

You will probably have a larger gap over the cab to the camper overhang if the camper was designed for the SD. They have the tallest cab by far.....might look a little weird and catch more air?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is solar worth it?

If I was in the ordering process and picking out my options and I read through this thread I would have second thoughts about solar. You shouldn't have to be an electrical engineer to use solar. Guess I was lucky. I spent $269 on a solar suitcase, plugged it in and it worked great.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is solar worth it?

I agree, something must be amiss with your system. I have 110L factory Waeco frig, dual batteries and a I00W solar in a bag: http://www.renogy-store.com/100W-Portable-Solar-Suitcase-p/kit-stcs100d.htm. I am new to this solar thing but so far I'm impressed. On a recent eight day hunting trip...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thinking about a new truck. What to buy?

What? I have had a Jeep CJ5, a Scout and a Blazer and I can go to about 98% of the places I used to go in my full size truck with a Hawk. The remaining 2% I probably shouldn't have attempted anyway. Who do you think made those trails in first place? Probably a full size truck. Look at a Jeep...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Member, Preparing to Order Question

Agreed....one of my favorite purchases for my Hawk when I'm in a full service campground. They really put out more heat than you would think. You will be happy with the liner in your travels to Colorado and Sturgis. It can snow at most any time in the high country here and mornings are always...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thinking about a new truck. What to buy?

Not for campers. It is designed for off road and has soft springs with a payload rating of only 1,490 pounds. My empty dry Hawk and me would be over that....loaded at the scales I am at around 2,000 pounds. My 2500 is rated at around 3,000 pounds and I assume a regular Ram 3/4 ton would be in...
