RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bears & Restrictions Against Soft-Side Pop-Up Campers?

Camped at Bowman Lake last summer and no restrictions (don't forget huckleberry bear claws at Polebridge). Get gas beforehand. You will love the Beartooth.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bears & Restrictions Against Soft-Side Pop-Up Campers?

I can't find that old thread either on pop ups and griz that I posted and placed links (old content gone before 2013?). This what I recall, after the Soda Creek attack near Cooke City, MT the NFS closed campgrounds to pop up campers that had soft sides within 4' (or something) from the ground...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West They say I am running too much air in my Michelin's

For comparison, my truck which is a 2500, came stock with those same tires and the factory sticker on the door jam says 60 lbs front and 70 lbs rear. Great ride and handling following those specs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Loose turnbuckles on Eagle

Do you have a rubber bed mat? On my Chevy I have a LineX spray in liner with a rubber bed mat on top of that. In 9,000 miles I only had to snug em up once at the 100 mile mark. I second the hand tight and a half turn with a stubby screw driver.

Anyone going to http://www.overlandexpo.com? I never seem to have the desire to venture out of CO but I'm thinking it is time to broaden my horizons. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you weighed your FWC?

Some camper builders actually weigh the final product as built....Hallmark for one comes to mind. In my case, the Hawk with the jacks on, weighs twice what the sticker indicates. To my mind that is a problem that should be addressed industry wide. On edit, from the Hallmark web site: "True Dry...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you weighed your FWC?

2012 Hawk, dual batteries, furnace, 110L two way frig, couch, stove, sink, etc. At the scales, dry, empty, and jacks removed: 1,330 pounds. I haven't checked fully loaded but probably around a ton then add dogs and humans. With my truck I have around a 3,000 pound payload capacity....I'll...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fastec Industrial door lock safety recall

Best advice I received when I picked my camper was to NEVER use that thing to lock the camper from the outside. I did once and Chris was right....thought I'd never get back inside. Threw the keys away and I ONLY use the household style deadbolt for an exterior lock.

Link to previous thread on air compressors: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/8248-portable-tire-compressors/?hl=compressor My Hi-Lift has also been assigned a corner in the shed. Too unwieldily, heavy and with my new truck I'm not sure where I could even use it without destroying...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Just getting started, what accessories do I need?

Some random thoughts: • Leveling blocks - I just cut up some 2x6s and stuffed them in the tie down hatches • 25' extension cord has been long enough for me and have never needed adapters • I'll second the air pump • Short garden hose for the sink drain • Two 12' water fill hoses • Shovel, axe...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rubber Truck Bed Mat?

From FWC: "Although spray-in bed liners (such as Line-X, Rhino Liner, etc.) and/or rubber bed mats are not necessary, they do help protect the truck bed long term.”Spray-On” bed liners or a simple rubber bed mat will prevent damage to the truck bed and prevent the camper from shifting in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eagle shell weight on 2nd Gen Tacoma Report

With a 1800 lb payload and a FWC shell your in much better shape than most. In an overloaded condition the first point of failure is usually the tires. I would definitely go with load range E tires and see how it handles. You can deal with rear suspension upgrades later if necessary. To...

2012 Chevy LTZ 2500HD 6.0 gas 4x4 crew cab with a Hawk (1300 dry, around a ton loaded) 13 to 16 MPG depending on how hard I want to push it. 36 gallon tank, so my range till walking is 468 to 576 miles. Real world.....my bladder range is more like 200 to 300 miles. :)
