RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell vs Loaded?

Agreed. The scales don't lie. That is how I found out my 740 lb Hawk, with options, weighed 1340 lbs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell vs Loaded?

It all comes down to that magical yellow payload door sticker. Everything else is smoke and mirrors. My sticker shows a payload capacity of 2870 lbs. I like to have an excess of capacity.....probably around 900 lbs. Some don't mind being well over. To each there own. Be safe out there.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell vs Loaded?

What does your yellow sticker say on your truck for your payload capacity? (probably on the door frame) If I had to guess it is around 1100 to 1300 pounds. Now add a driver and a passenger, a dog? 300 lbs Add a FWC, with your options: 800 to 1000 lbs (my similar Hawk was 1300 lbs dry and...

I thought I was organized.....but no, you are the master. My hat is off to you sir! I am going to steal some of your ideas. Wish I would have mounted my FF controller where you did. Do you have a DuHa under that back seat?

Wrong show.....Breaking Bad. Gonna miss that series. I emailed Terry at FWC and they do recommend tying down the rear: "We don't recommend using them off the truck. If you are going to use it off the truck, you should anchor the rear down. You can use those large screws that they use for tying...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

My thoughts on your list: I would add the 110L 2way frig. It is my favorite and most used option by far on my camper. To pay for it delete the smooth sides, exterior lighting and rear floods. The camper comes standard with a rear light that I hardly ever use.I like the backpacker style...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

Your needs and cash available may differ but MY must have list that would be difficult or impossible to add later: screen door furnace frig, 2 way electric only! dual batteries second roof vent over bed Must have but could be added later: cold/hot weather liner Fantastic Fan You should post...

Can't say that I've done that with mine. At the RV shows that FWC has been at, I have seen no extra tie downs of any sort and I have climbed up there to check out the bed for size. Everything stayed upright. I think you would be fine....but better call Saul, I mean Stan. Sorry, can't talk...

Welcome Jason. Looks like we may have stayed in the same campground. Can't recall the exact name but a great spot. Only one other person there during our stay. Love Montana. Third spot from the end: No, there wasn't a pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow in the outhouse:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ok to store on raised jacks all winter?

I would use this system: http://www.jaysnest.net/x-braces.htm Use the jacks just for additional support/balance.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Constant running 2 way Dometic 80L frig.

Color me confused..... My 2012 Hawk with the 2-way 110L fridge has an exterior vent and FWC recommended and I ordered the cooling fan. In any case my fridge cycles on and is mostly off no matter the setting on the thermostat. I seldom use the fan unless it is extremely warm.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West OK...still trying to become an electrical engineer

As I understand it, there is a one way highway from the truck battery. It can charge the camper but but the campers battery separator doesn't allow power to be drawn from the starting battery or will it allow the campers system to charge it. Meaning the camper batteries can die but the starting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West OK...still trying to become an electrical engineer

My 2012 Hawk is equipped with a Iota DSL30 converter and I recently added a IQ4 battery plug in smart charger to it. Works great at keeping my two camper AGM batteries charged. I also want to keep my truck battery charged. I have a Battery Tender Plus that I use on the truck starting battery...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fondled your battery separator lately?

Well I have and it was hot, really hot. The truck/camper had been parked for about two hours, all power off, when I decided to check the camper batteries. I could immediately feel the heat and, of course.....I touched the thing and let go rather quickly. No burns but it was cookin. Now back in...

Thanks for the replies and it appears that takesiteasy is correct. I found the following on the BT site: (I assume my truck battery and two camper batteries are considered to be connected "in parallel"?) from batterytender.com 14. Can the Battery Tender Plus battery charger be used to charge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Tender question

Let me preface this by saying when comes to electricity I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I just installed a harness to my truck battery to run my Battery Tender this winter. The truck and camper are only a little over a year old and the batteries, one truck, two AGM's in camper, are...
