RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Factory monitor panel on 2016 Fleet

I liked mine also but for me it was too large, stuck out too far and blocked the drawer. I use this smaller one now instead....only 3 bucks: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/351240319815?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Factory monitor panel on 2016 Fleet

I have that same meter and it does come with a chart to interpret the readings. Here is another good guideline:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tow Haul Mode

Great feature on my 2500HD that I use all the time here in the Rockies....especially so on downgrades from our 10,000' plus passes. By just using the brakes you can warp rotors and fry pads pretty fast.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alarm System for Camper

Yep...me too. At a certain height point you might be better off with a smaller hard side with a aero nose.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper insurance - mounted full time

I have Auto Owners Insurance and their only question was what the value of the camper was. Mine has been on full time for four years. In any case how would they know the time frame of it being on or off?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dogs on the road

Yes, all windows except the windshield of course (although some do that also). I can see out fine but no prying eyes can see in. Have never used my curtains.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dogs on the road

Yes, heat is the big worry especially with dogs that have abbreviated snouts. I miss my old Grandby that had the sliding front window. My dog would lay on the couch in front of that window with a cool breeze and a good view...no boredom and excellent scofflaw protection. Try to park in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Comparing 3/4 Ton Trucks: Fuel Economy

LiveLife, wise decision in considering a 3/4 ton truck for our "lightweight" campers. With my one ton load I get between 10 to 16 mpg with my 12 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 gasser. 16 mpg driving 45 through Yellowstone and 10 mpg getting there at 85 on the Wyoming interstates. Usually somewhere in between...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Steps

Me three. Low price (only around 20 bucks), has two steps, stable with its big feet and lightweight. Liked it so much I bought a second one to use around the homestead.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hard side TC vs pop-up

The biggest advantage of my FWC and truck combo is that they fit in my garage. No off site storage hassles/fees, no loading and unloading, no HOA issues, weather proof (my camper would look like the exterior of a golf ball by now in hail country) and I'm free to head for hills at the drop of a hat.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Revisiting the 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton question....

Couldn't agree more. 2012 SILVERADO 2500HD CREW Z71 4x4 6.0L Camper has been on full-time for four years with no suspension mods done or needed. Great combo. On edit: My Hawk dry at the scales was 1340 with the jacks removed. Here is the sticker on the camper: 740 pounds wet...(I think a shell...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rain noise

Ahh...the FWC rain melody. Doesn't really bother me, kind of lulls me to sleep but then again I'm in the Rockies and rain is seldom seen occurance. What does get my attention is when it stops and then I'm thinking snow.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Couple of questions re height and weight

Mine just clears my 8' garage door by a couple inches. Up top I just have the two roof vents. The truck is a 2012 Chevy 2500HD crew cab with the Z71 off road option with stock tires. No suspension/air bags additions added and none needed. Handles and drives great with the Hawk. At the scales...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cottonwood Canyon considerations + Turnbuckle Trouble

Just out of curiosity I was wondering if you have a rubber bed mat on your truck? I have a LineX spray on bed liner with a rubber bed mat on top of that. In the four years my camper has been on full time I have only had tighten my tie downs once and that was at the 500 mile mark. Of course I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 100 Watt Renogy Foldoing Solar Suitcase for an electrical dummy?

I have just the 100 watt portable and it keeps my batteries charged in my Hawk with the 110 Dometic without any issues. I have gone seven days in hunting camp not starting the truck plus some furnace and lighting use. I did re-aim the panel several times per day and the temps were cool.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Sway Bar for 3/4 Ton with Hawk

I have a 2012 Chevy 2500HD with a Hawk that has been on full time for 4 years. My scaled load is 2,000 pounds and I never felt the need for any kind of suspension additions. In fact I think this thing handles great. I'm in the Colorado mountains so I have more than my share of twisty roads...

Just about any 4wd road will have some nice boon docking spots. Webster Pass, Radical Hill, Redcone Mt. vicinity: Webster Pass Be aware though, that while most of these shelf roads are not really that difficult, the margin of error can be small and the consequences can be and have been...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West screwing into FWC Aluminum siding - mounting bottle opener

This is where I mounted mine several years ago and have had no issues. I just did a "push test" and felt something behind the skin...exactly what I don't know. It also makes a nice garbage bag holder upper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hey, what's your handle?

Every time I would get out of my truck my Rottweiler would immediately move to the drivers seat and stare out the windshield as if she were driving. The guys at the barbershop got a laugh out of it and I became rotti on the haircut list.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you get? MPG on F350 4x4 Diesel or Gas

Not a Ford but my Chevy 2500HD crew 6.0 gas, Hawk on full time will get at the best 16 (driving 45 through Yellowstone) to barely 10 at 85 mph crossing WY. Usually somewhere in between those numbers. I debated diesel when I ordered my truck and I have no regrets going with gas. I have all the...
