RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Medano Pass

I have driven that route a couple of times but only in the fall. The road isn't that bad but in the spring and early summer the creek crossings could be a problem and road can washout and be closed/gated near the picnic area in the NP. The road is narrow (expect some brush pin stripping) steep...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 100 Watt Renogy Foldoing Solar Suitcase for an electrical dummy?

Me too. Very happy with mine. The panel is fused and all I did was cut off the jumper style connectors and solder on the SAE fittings.

Make sure all clamps are open and clear before lifting the roof up. You can do a lot damage very quickly if one clamp is left on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My new to me Grandby - work begins

I'd add a lot more cab to camper clearance...hate to see you do any damage up there. I added some videos to your post over on Expo.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replaced fridge - Norcold 3.0 3-way with Dometic 3.8 DC

I have the same frig and I find my 100w solar suitcase is all that is needed with my dual battery factory system. A ten day hunting trip with low sun, mixed sun and clouds, snow and temps ranging from 20 to 65F and all was well. Furnace use was minimal (less than a 1/2 hour per day), also I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 84 Fleet - 09 Tacoma - Project

In addition to your perimeter wood riser I would add rigid foam board to support/insulate the entire floor base. Easy, cheap, light and adds R value. Many threads about doing this, here is one: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/4634-alaskan-sits-low-in-my-truck/

I like mine also, lightweight, inexpensive and you can use it to access the roof latches.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What options are recommended for new Fleet shell owner?

My FF has a rain sensor (14 speed version with remote) and closes automatically when it detects moisture...works fine. With a couple inches of clearance to get my rig in the garage anything added to the height of the roof is a no go.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you use to level your truck camper

I'm thinking it probably won't work without cell service? I have a torpedo level as a backup. That extra window tripped me up too...I've found any grade school kid makes a great IT consultant!

Yes native, built in to the compass app...swipe left. In addition to the compass it shows your altitude and gps coordinates (6s does anyway).

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck suggestions (four wheel camper)

Tacoma 75" wide so not that much difference. You mentioned two kids and a dog? I personally wouldn't consider anything smaller than a Hawk or a Grandby and that equals a crew cab full size truck. I've traveled most of the moderate 4wd roads in CO and width hasn't been issue...ground clearance...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck suggestions (four wheel camper)

Rethink that. Tundra 77.2" wide, my Chevy 2500HD 80". I don't think 3" is going make much difference in the greater scheme of things. Length about the same in a crew cab, standard box and Hawk configuration. To balance out Ace's response, consider only a GM product and, more importantly, only in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Insurance questions

I have Auto Owners insurance, They asked me simply what the value of it was, I mentioned 20 large and they said $124.....done deal. Personally I would only have a stated value policy, no surprises later on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West mounting a shovel

X2 on the Du-Ha. In addition to axe, shovel and saw that thing holds a long list of stuff that would normally be in the camper. I prefer a clean unencumbered exterior....think thieves, rust and road grime.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dogs can open emergency exit on my Hawk

I knew cats had 9 lives but dogs too? Glad it all ended well! What model camper do you have? My Hawk with the roll over couch would make that impossible as the window is 75% covered by the back rest.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk or Grandby

Hawk or Grandby? Well I've had both, a Grandby on a regular cab 3/4 ton and a Hawk on my current crew cab. For us (two humans and a hound), a crew cab and a Hawk is by far the best combo. Why? Storage. All the stuff that I had to step over and move around on the floor of the camper is now in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Minimum Garage Door Height For Hawk + '05 Tundra

You'll probably need a 8' door. My 3/4 ton Chevy with a Hawk and vents only just barely clears my 8' door.
