RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Electric Pickup Truck

Taku, There is a lot of concern around the much larger scale mining for the copper, cobalt, nickel, manganese, lead, lithium and rare earth material that will be needed to make the millions of electric motors and batteries for electric vehicles. As most of us know mining has a history of being...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Solar Package Question

The concept is hanging the panels from the edges of the roof. Could be a bracket with hinge attachment for the panel attached to the Yakima tracks or equivalent. Similer to our boat, one side would be partially shaded much of the time and each side would need its own solar controller to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Largest watt Panel for stock 2020 Swift Shell Model

I found I can mount either a 60 cell or 72 cell residential type solar panel between the vents on my camper. I am presently comparing price and cost of serveral 360 - 400 watt panels. One of these panels is slightly lighter in weight than the two 100 watt panels presently on my camper. That...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Solar Package Question

For folks frequently carrying kayaks, bikes, cargo boxes, etc on the roof of the camper that will shade solar panels. Have you considered hanging panels from the sides of the camper? I can envision a panel hanging off each side that has a hinge and support arms to allow it to fold up into a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2014 (Sept.) Hawk, roof solar wiring but no plug?

Before you cut the headliner contact FWC with your camper's s/n and ask where the solar wires in the ceiling are. On that year I expect you will find the wires are located above the lift panel on the left side of center. After removing the lift board feel the structure above the headliner with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordered New Scheel-Mann Seats for our Truck

Mastercraft was one of the many seat brands I looked at. The Camber and Baja RS both recline but have about half of the Scheel-Mann adjustability features. However they are about 1/2 the price of Scheel Manns (and Recaros) too. We both really like the thigh seat extension (in /out) adjustment...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordered New Scheel-Mann Seats for our Truck

David, Are you referring to air seats like thoese made by Knoedler and National Seating? They are in the same price range as Recaro and Scheel-Mann. Superior seats maybe? Most of these seats are for on road comfort (I have sat in some) in RVs and Vans and big trucks. To my knowledge they...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordered New Scheel-Mann Seats for our Truck

David Graves, I think the OEM Dodge W250 LE version "Captian's Chair" bucket seats were more comfortanble than the Toyota seats. The 91 - 93 Dodge Ramcharger (and I think other years) use the exact same seats. Unfortunately my OEM seats are now broken down and a complete rebiild would cost a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Purging the water system for Serious winter camping

Water expands by about 9% when going from a liquid to frozen state. So if a cointainer is mostly empty it should be fine with one caveat, the air in the continer will be compressed if it is sealed so it would be wise to have a way for the air to escape if the container cannot hold the slighly...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic CFX3 35 Powered Cooler

We have a Dometic CFX-28 that we place in the truck cab behind the center console. The CFX-28 is the next size smaller than the Dometic CFX3 35 (which is a newer model). It uses the same compressor and electronics and a similarly built (but slightly smaller) container. It is quiet and works...

Lighthawk, We have a pop up shower encloser similer to the one you pictured. We find it to the a floppy, unstable PITA in even mildly breezy conditions. Also there is no much room inside. It does work -sort of but not satisfactory for our needs. Looking for something that is a bit larger...

I live in California. I bought a used pickup truck in Oregon in 1999. In order to register it in California I had to pay sales tax as part of the California title and registration process. If I had owned and operated it out of state for a year or more no sales tax would have been due. In...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I Drilled a Hole in the Roof

recommend making the hole large enough to accomodate a rubber grommet along with the wires. The grommet will minimize the risk of the sharp edges of the hole in the Aluminum roof cutting into the wires. Alternatively you could wrap the wires with heavy tape or soething. I used a grommet.
