RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2x4 Under the camper alternatives?

I used composite decking boards. Lite, won’t rot or need painting and they don’t wick water to the camper.

https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2024-april-8 Less than a year to Total Solar Eclipse. I witnessed the last total eclipse in the U.S. next to Granite Falls off the Hoback River in Wyoming. An epic unforgettable clear day. I’d like to try it again but don’t know much about Texas and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cam straps to keep turnbuckles from loosening?

I replaced the stock turnbuckles with steel turnbuckles with locknuts from McMaster. Worth the cost for peace of mind. I also added a “fail-safe” on the front using. 24” nylon climbing slings rated for 5000 ft-lbs connected using a carabiner through one eye and the strap looped through the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Panel hinge

During a post trip interior clean up I discovered the lower pin of the front panel had moved to the left 2 inches and the first spring on the right side had fallen out. I was able to slowly tap the pin back into position but not able to get the spring aligned. I’m assuming with my 2013 Fleet...

Seems like most of the time I come across the Mojave desert I’m pounding into the wind and getting 12-14 mpg. Tailwinds make me happy!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Miles per year on your truck camper

I average 1300 miles / trip from San Diego. 6-8 trips a year for roughly 10k miles. Last road trip up to Bishop area I had some favorable winds and averaged 18 mpg on a fully loaded Fleet FWC on a 2021 Tacoma. I’m the slow poke in the right lane doing 60mph.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need to borrow jacks - in Reno - April 4 or 5.

I had the same thing happen with my Fleet. I used a small hydraulic jack on a log and used a 2x4 across the overhang in the back to lift the camper to reset the camper and recover the turnbuckle. I was able to just shove the camper into place.
