We are definitely interested. Were talking with some friends a month ago, and john day was mentioned. Plus would get me away from painting (the house, is also on the schedule next august) :)
Would be fun to meet you Phil, and see your new rig. We'll be coming thru your next of the woods on the way down. Hope you have had your hawk out. Just had mine out for the second time the last few days. Will see if any pics came thru.
Folks, clikrf8 is so cool, that I'll drive 1200 miles to meet...
Thanks Sunman. You helped at a good time for me. From all I have read here and on other forums, the vast majority of folks use and swear by airbags. I was getting ready to buy some and one voice had a bad experience with them. You helped clarify it for me, and I am still sure they are the way to...
eye bolts would work, or holes drilled in legs to rope items too, at different heights.
I did check out the link, should work just fine for paddles.
Where to put all the maps? I always have a stack of them, and pick up more on the road as I go. My van had nice big pockets behind the seats, this...
oops. My picture didn't post, not sure how to do that. Supposed to be a pic of a mud river rear window organizer. A bunch of pockets, would probably store light stuff, clothes and such
Huumm. A rack for the rear window. Ill have to think about that. Good idea. I was thinking of sewing a version of this, to maximize storage. I guess my "first floor platform" is only 10" or so off the floor, thinking of only storing long items, paddles, table, fishing poles etc underneath it on...
looks great Hoyden. Simple and inexpensive. Nice to have long storage underneath [like the paddles], and more storage on top. Or a sleeping platform on top for the dogs and or you :)
yeehaw. Have two days of work left, then can finish getting ready and taking trial runs in the cascades. I'll get more pics up of crew cab storage when "done". will be heading south, end of september or so.
Second time at my home town library. In anacortes wa. White Classic jayco with blue trim. Sitting on a white dodge 4x4 dually with Colorado plates

Thanks for reminding me. We are in the market for foldable/ inflatable kayaks. Don't want to pack our hard shell sea kayaks all over the west. But do want dimensions before I build out the rear seat. We Better get shopping.

That is the center consul laying there. Taking it out to make it easier for us and dog to get in back. And making middle box a cooler that can pull forward to get into from front seat

Right on hoyden. Your coming right along. I am at the same stage. It is interesting to see how many different angles folks come at the same project. We are the opposite of Frank, we want to take everything and the kitchen sink, so trying to maximize space so can be out for a month or 4. I am...
hey maybe just figured out how to get pics to here. Let see if it works. Easy one for northwesterners to guess location

Whew. Way over my head. I just change oil and spark plugs etc. all else goes to somebody with more patience than I have. Be nice to have it along for scouting.

That's my take also. 1st of July thru August. We have paddled up there 3 times and not seen the orcas. Paddled from Campbell river to pt hardy in June and zip. Lots of porpoise and bear neat to see.
If planning a trip cormorant and McNeil islands are neat to see and available by ferry

Fun to have the bike running. I look forward to some time off to get on my Honda 110. Interesting I last went up that road ( coordinates), in 1988 after a trip to the north rim!

Nice set up.
Researched going this route, after selling my 97 gmc 2wd van.
What turned me away was that not all mercedes dealers work on the sprinters. I didn't want to get stuck in one of the rocky mtn states hundreds of miles from somebody qualified to work on my rig.
Still having second...
Wow,Wow,Wow. Great guide book, so much info. Thanks Bill, tuff guy and randy. Sure sorry to have missed this one. Still getting used to , and adding to, new truck and camper, on day off. Will post some pics when closer to being done.
Thanks for the post. Love that you can buy a small diesel like that and mount to the frame. Would have liked to go the flat bed route, but also not willing to put out the extra $
Wonderful trip report hoyden. Love the hatch and/0r skylight over the bed idea. The new North Star has a skylight by the backdoor over the shower. Would like a hatch for access and star gazing over the bed
