RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reducing weight

Great discussion guys. Lotsa good info for this newbie. My thinking ,buying the 3/4 ton and big Northstar, big water tank etc, is to have enough to stay in for 2-3 months. Just hoping it works out, otherwise will be looking for a 20' plus motor home or trailer and jeep with light weight camper...

We'd love to get up or close to Abajo peak, Cayuse, and beef basin looks good too. If your leaning exiting that way, we'll come south via the burr and ferry [if its open]. Which maps are you using for Utah? The Delorme is hard to pull details out of, and apples map on my big computer is equally...

And Einsteins. The point being its the skeleton in the closet folks don't like to talk about. Like Abbey said , growth is only the genius of a cancer cell. It's like tilting at windmills, but I'll do what little I can to help limit growth and overpopulation. Weather from inside the U.S or out.

A ratchet strap is a good multipurpose tool to have along, that might have been a temp fix for the turnbuckle. Hard to carry spares for everything. Hard to do I know. There is so much to see, and we want to do it all. But Maybe narrow your trip down some. Do you want mtns, desert or ocean? Than...

Sad to say, and a very unpolitic position, butI think it stems from overpopulation as whole. Forms my views on immigration and refugees. The one percent have their refuges of thousands and millions of acres. The rest of us have to share with , not 200 million when we were kids, but 300 plus...

Good analogy Foy. Lot depends on the terrain and road and view and mind set, [point a to b getting there, vs having time] x2 on morro bay to monteray but only off season and during the week. Anymore, any other time its like a racetrack. Its definitely harder to find dispersed sites, and takes a...

I like to think of hi milage trips like those as broad overview trips. Good to get an idea of areas you haven't seen, places you may or may not want to go back to. Or your just going to one spot or "moms" and spending your time there. But hard to spend the time to really appreciate any given...

We might be game 2. Its all new to us. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where do you go when you gotta go?

x4. nothing worse than an area decorated with tp. One trip up the clearwater, early in the year with no fire danger, I "cleaned up" an area with a long handled lighter, burned it up in place. Trying to get used to the thetford that came with the northstar, like the idea of a composting or bucket...

Yeehaw, thanks for the reconnoitering and setting this up Hoyden. I am also an old school paper map guy. I got excited last week when my mpg went from 9.1 to 9.8! 2015 chevy 2500 hd 4x, crew cab and 8 foot bed, 6.0 liter, i just turned over 3000 miles. Hauling a northstar 850, guesstimating at 20000 lbs as now loaded. I drove about 80 miles each way up into the cascades, average speed about 45...
