RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Even Compressor Fridges Need Venting

I know 68Siesta and 97Grandby have noticed improved performance with a fan system for their fridges. Anyone else install fans and notice improving fridge cooling or decreased battery usage doing this? I think FWC should consider adding fans even on their compressor fridge systems. They...

Alley-Kat, I like your ideas. Thanks for the input. The normal running mode experiment will probably be my next one to try.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Even Compressor Fridges Need Venting

15% less amps used That's the amount I used less in power once I added my fan system to my dometic 110 litter compressor fridge. I think you could do even better in a hotter environment. I ran an experiment in a controlled temperature shop over several days with and without my fan system...

What kind of things do you put in your side drawers? How deep are they? Do you think that other campers could be modified in that way too???

Great job. I love your organized wires with labeling! I get way too lazy at that point and just tie them all down.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

I'm not sure there is any difference in how those two batteries are being wired in the previous picture. They are both the usual parallel way used for two 12 volts together.

Kodachrome, I think you win the prize for the most solar. 550 watts definitely has me beat! I max out at 250 watts rigid fixed and 135 watts portable, so 385 total. Where do you put all of those panels? Are some portable?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

Photohc, You are correct that the shunt is required to accurately measure the amperage and voltage of your battery bank. A second battery bank can be monitored in the system but in not quite the same amount of details...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

I have never used that function, but I believe the Trimetric Monitor can look at different battery banks. It requires wiring the battery banks in a different way to isolate them, but you may have already done that. There is actually way more information from the Trimetric than most of us would...

How did you get huge slide out drawers to roll out? Do they hang down after you pull them out all of the way?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Side Dinette and Solar Charge Controler location

Why not install it in the battery compartment where it is out of the way? The indicator lights from the MPPT charge controllers rarely give you much information. Often they have a separate monitor that can be placed out in the open for information. Plus the charge controller wires would have...

I've been using this charge controller: MPPT TRACER 3215RN Solar Charge Controller 30A 12V 24V EP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KWPGAE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_e-Ztxb5EER7NW The panel is heavy and I increased my lift assists to 60 lbs. That seems to work just right.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2015 Hallmark K2 Truck Camper SOLD

Eric, Great looking camper! I had a few questions after looking through your pictures. Does your camper have a shower in the back of it? How does the bunk bed work?

The amount of storage in this camper is amazing. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone else with side drawers - let alone side drawers and pull out drawers the entire length.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Custom trailers behind our campers

This is one of the main reasons I own a FWC. You can tow anything you want without any real mods - no trailer extension business, etc... I tow frequently with my camper and it works great.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 100 Watt Renogy Foldoing Solar Suitcase for an electrical dummy?

My understanding is that the Renogy portable setup is meant to be a direct attachment to the battery. I don't recall if the system already has a fuse or not. If you changed out the clamps to a SAE plug, you could plug it directly to the outside plug from your camper. I use one of my flexible...

My new Grandby does not have the same fridge fan setup that my Hawk did. Exact same factory venting and dometic 110 litter compressor fridge. So this last week I did some testing on my nonvented fridge. I put a thermometer in the upper and one in the lower outside vented section of the fridge...
