RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West '03 granby electrical queations

Have you tried plugging your camper into a non GFI outlet? You might find that it charges just fine from there. Sometimes there is a "load" that creates an immediate current from the camper that causes these to trip. I've had that happen with some other FWCs and they seem to work just fine on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 100 Watt Renogy Foldoing Solar Suitcase for an electrical dummy?

I actually have owned the exact setup you are looking at. It worked just fine. I connected it directly to the batteries and ran the cord out of the window. It would be much easier if you have the solar plug on your outside for sure. Personally, I really prefer having a panel on the roof that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sightings thread

On May 24th at Valley of the Gods, Stalking Light drove right past two guys on motorcycles with kids. That was DrJ and 68 Siesta. Probably couldn't figure out who were those two weird guys that waved.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's wrong with this Fleet Camper?

Here are some inside pictures. This is a really neat option. I wish they would have had this option just a few months ago when I bought my Grandby. The extra bed length is really tremendous too. I think it creates North South sleeping instead of the old way. There is a TON of storage under...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's wrong with this Fleet Camper?

There is even more to the story than the under the bed storage. The bed is longer than before. They are using a new material on the underside of the cab over. This is just a prototype but the change is awesome. The amount of storage under the bed is terrific. There has been no final...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's wrong with this Fleet Camper?

This is actually more about what's right then wrong. But I spent two days at Overland Expo seeing some amazing rigs. I noticed something new on FWC that I've wanted for years. Just curious if anyone else can spot what's different about this Fleet than anyone I've ever seen before. Sent...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge fan photos

Nice job Desert Dave. Your setup was even better than mine. I believe the other end of the wiring from the factory is intended to be at the switch center on the drivers side just as you enter the camper. I love the idea of it running only when the fridge is running. That is a fantastic idea!

Hopefully some of the other guys that are having a hard time with heat exchange in their fridges are looking at your solution. Looks like a great idea!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

More solar, more ventilation, more wiring, more batteries... Sounds like you have quite an adventure planned. One of the biggest frustrations is that most people who own campers don't understand 12 volt batteries, wiring, solar,etc... I was a chemistry major as an undergraduate and I still...

That's terrible. What a sad end to that story.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

The venting of the compressor fridges has changed over the past few years by FWC. I definitely agree that you probably need more ventilation to get the system to work correctly. I would recommend placing a thermometer in the back compartment with the compressor of the fridge is at. If the...

Wuck - great call on the connections and battery testing. Both easy to do and a great place to start.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

I love these. Nothing funnier than a crazy electric problem. My 2 cents... It is likely a battery problem. One of the batteries probably has a bad cell and under a load cannot maintain the necessary voltage to keep up. Why? a- the solar runs the system during the day because it provides...

I stole my idea to put the panel on the tracks from Bill. He has all of the great build ideas!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

It does routinely get around 15+ volts on a clear day. For a single panel it works great. I'd recommend it to anyone with the right controller.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

It is big. 250 watt, 24 Volt panel. I think this is the one: http://www.renogy-store.com/250W-24V-Poly-Solar-Panel-p/rng-250p.htm You need a MPPT charge controller to make it work, but it produces lots of energy and is more efficient because of the higher voltage. It has less voltage loss.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

I used the z brackets from Renogy solar to add my solar to my tracks. It is nice if you buy a panel long enough to cover the tracks otherwise you will also need some other hardware like Bill has. Mine has worked fantastic. The panels have not blown off and since it's a hard panel, I hope that...

Those are from the Thule RV set. They were pretty great setup. Still sorry that I sold all of the tables with my last trailer. They don't make them anymore and they are hard to find. What I would love to see is if someone can develop a true outdoor kitchen as part of our campers.

68 siesta needs to do his own thread about the build out of the drawers. He now has both exterior rear and side drawers on his camper. It's pretty amazing. I've never seen anything else on WTW quite like it.
