RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Supersprings are super!

Hi all, Just had a set of superspring put on my truck. I was starting to get the rear end sag (truck...truck!) and was a little unsure about airbags. Thought I would try the springs instead. Well, the truck with camper now sits level. Seems a lot stiffer so far, and the little curb crawling...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sealing Seams

Thanks, guys for the info. Don't know what I am going to do, but I will wait for Stan to chime in. I think some goof-off to get some of that velcro glue off would be nice. Then I can cover the thread holes. Some of the glue covers them now, but not all. So simple, yet so complex. Dave

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sealing Seams

I can't remember where, but i think it was Stan who said that we could use VLP Vinyl Repair for these holes. I could use it as my 2001 hawk shell does leak at those holes. However, I cannot find this stuff. Walmart, target, auto parts stores, even hobby stores just don't carry it. Tries west...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hatchet?

Machete... Forgot all about that. A very handy tool if you have a nice one. I just worry when other people borrow mine. Scares me. I may have to put it in the camper so I can use it next trip. Good idea, guys. dm

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mind the Gap

ACom: Nelson is not that far. Nice area. Kootnay is quite nice. I have some friends who live in the way north, Ft St. John up near Yukon. Now, that is far. I will probably be up in your neck of the woods sometime this summer or early fall. Maybe we can arrange a meet-up to check out...

ACom: Yeah, you got plenty of room. If you can, put the basket between the bars. I tried to put them under the bar, but they don't allow that kind of mounting. On the sides, the basket allows you to actually lower it between the bars....nice to get it as low as possible. I tried to put a...

Bret13: Wow, that is a nice one at Cabela's. More expensive than what I have. Won't go wrong with any of these. I used to have a long handled one, but settled for a hatchet these days. Short and simple to store. Good luck. dave

ACOM: Take a look at this link and see what you think... http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=851&highlight=rack I think you have more room than I and could do this much better. My Gap is just not big enough to fit the basket under.....darn. It is nice to store stuff (water...

I used to use the crappy axe and hatchets as well. Bad idea. Get yourself a nice Gerber or Fiskars. Very nice. Light. Easy to carry or stow. Sharp and cuts nicely. First time you use it You'll understand why. good luck. dave

Deltarat. That is cool. I did not do as much researchas you when I got my high sierra about 8 years ago. I was at a meet and they were there and the deal was good. I have mine currently mounted to one of my camper jacks. I need to get it higher as i can't tune on 20 and I think it is due...

STAN, good to see you get out too. I had the Hawk out in the Pac Northwest this weekend. Performed flawlessly in the nice warm weather. Olympic peninsula is so pretty this time of year. Got to see a lot of the damage from last winter's storms. Man, lots of downed trees and a lot of my...

Well, when my brother lived in PHX he did show us the fine art of frying an egg on the driveway. I was impressed. So, that would mean we would have to take a ride, check out some shocks, get some sun AND have a beer............Beer....Yum Yum! Dave in Wet, Cold, Cloudy Seattle.....

SHocks are so subjective......I'll see what I know. What I need is someone who knows shocks to ride in the truck......I don't trust them sales people. Of course I will need new shocks. As for a ride.... Arizona is probably a lot sunnier than here....and warmer. Sun......yum........ Dave

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back end sag.....

Well, not hearing of any FWC angels, I decided to call one of the dealers for supersprings here near Seattle. They quoted me about 545 for the springs and about 100 to install. Not too bad. I still like this idea better than the airbags. Now, how to decide if I need new shocks.....They...

Well, I think I will start by doing a general maintenance work on the truck. If they tell me there is anything glaringly wrong, I would consider a new truck just to get rid of any headaches. They are getting cheaper as gas prices keep going up. If everything is OK, I will start with...

Hmmm. Good input all. Well, thinking about it, I doubt I will often tow a boat or trailer. Long hauls are not gonna happen until I retire, and that is a long way off. Probably better to keep the occasional use truck. Maybe look for a diesel when I get closer to really traveling. The more I...

Ok. I've read the posts on this subject, but am wondering still what to do. Here is the problem. 96 dodge ram 1500 extended cab, short bed 4X4. Still with stock shocks, leaf springs. Last year, added a 2001 used hawk shell. 135,000 mi. No problem. Took it all over, off road, on road...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fiamma Awning…Use Wall Brackets?

winter200: I had the same Idea of making a table. I figure about 12 in wide, to run the width of the side window, from jack to jack. Probably put a hinge on it so that it could fold up when traveling or not in use. This would allow me to open the window, use the table as a counter under the...
