RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed Discussion

What kind/brand flatbed did you go with? I just got the Ute. It's pretty basic but it works fine for my needs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flatbed Discussion

After owning a flatbed for a while, there is no doubt in my mind that it is far superior to the stock bed both for general use and for camper use. After selling my stock bed to a wrecker my total expense was about $2,700. Not bad IMO.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire Mount Directly on FWC

Hi, I have a old Fleet model FWC on a 95 Tacoma short bed. It extends over the tail gate. FWC says the roof will handle a 1000# of snow, so I'm hoping a 80# tire and wheel can sit on top. I just need to design a crane and mount for it. The truck frame is too light to handle any extended...

Ummm, I'm not sure I understand the message you would be trying to promote? Besides, isn't it enough I have one shirt already. Which reminds me, a couple of months ago I was fishing a lake we hiked into off Highway 4. A family was nearby and the woman asked me, "Are you Ted?" Yes, do I know you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back to Nevada!

Fantastic! I have really grown to love Nevada as well. Part of the allure is it seems nobody I talk to has ever been to any of the places I am describing to them. One of our last frontiers. Looking forward to the next report!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Shower - Shower Tent

DD - Do you remember Kodachrome's shower rack system? It is very clever . . . light weight, unobtrusive and easy to set-up/break-down. I am not sure how to put the link up, but you can find it under the thread entitled "nother mod" from September of 2009. I plan to do the same thing as soon...

Oh I just remembered - I think it was Northstar Campers that actually had a privacy enclosure that attached to the roof of their popup. You may be able to find that at their site.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Shower - Shower Tent

This has been a complaint I've had with FWC in the past. On many of my trips I'm moving every day and I don't want to assemble another tent and then have to dry it out and disassemble it. It makes all the sense in the world for FWC to have a couple brackets on the side or top of the roof to have...

Did ski3pin originally get pulled for this one (second time for the stove)? I could have sworn I saw his name listed on Monday morning. Congrats either way Ted! No I screwed that up. The rewards system has a flaw where on the first of the month the prize notification defaults to the last...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dont Get Eatten

They say its more effective than a gun. I'd really rather not find out myself, though I do carry it occassionally. Wonder how it works on mountain lions. When I worked in Alaska the general feeling with the crews up there was that the spray was a joke. A shotgun was the preferred tool and 44's...

Bear spray isn't going to do much to a Grizzly but I suppose its worth a try in a pinch. If that doesn't work you can always kick the bear in the nuts.
