RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jumping Jehosaphats !

I had no idea that camper was still around. Been seeing it pop-up on and off for years, maybe even a decade or two.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Castors for Camper Dolly?

I'd take a serious look at the HF 4x8 trailer kit. They fold in half when you're not using them. For a trailer that's a dubious feature, but for a camper dolly it would be handy. Add a jack with a serious caster wheel(s) like one of these: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Jack/Ark/ORJW350D.html...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replace Air Bags or Not?

Does the camper live on the truck, or get put on and taken off as needed? If it lives on the truck I'd change the springs per Craig's post above. Deaver is good, but they're in the greater LA area. Alcan Spring is also good and they're in old town Grand Junction, which should make it a bit...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Longer Cabover

I asked about exactly that a while back and was told no, then. I can see why. If the overhang length is extended then the depth of the camper over the cab needs to increase in order to properly support it. This is why campers that don't have the pull-out are taller in that area than the FWC's.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 12v fridge

I believe that we have the same fridge as JonR. We're on our third one. We sold the first camper with the first one still installed. I ordered a second one almost exactly the day that I brought our second camper home. We've had one issue that I think was my fault. The controller failed. I think...

I failed. The 'Punch-thru' looked familiar, but I've never seen one of those with metal sides. All that I've ever seen had paper/cardboard sides. I'm not a geezer! I'm not! I'm not! I'm not! wheeeee......

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do pop-up campers stay cool enough to leave a dog in?

I would expect forced ventilation to be a requirement, and even then I'm not sure that it stay cool enough inside. Anyone got a data logging thermometer?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Upgrade

There's the difference, I was looking at 25 feet for total length and you're looking at 25' being the one way length. 25' total length didn't raise any red flags with me because our first camper had a total length of something like 16' (I measured it rather carefully). According to my link above...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Whats a good portable propane camp stove?

For the "Guy Trips" I have a now discontinued Campchef Sport Stove. It has 30k btu burners that throttle down amazingly nicely. I think it's been out of production for over a decade, maybe two. It is a two burner and it is LARGE and not particularly light. In the interest of something more...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Upgrade

This thread caught my eye because I think that we're on the cusp of going lithium ourselves. Another wire sizing resource: https://www.ancorproducts.com/en/Resources No smart alternators around here, so I'm only a little help there. Since a DC-DC converter trades current for voltage, the...

Ages-old fictional part those muffler bearings. Turns out that those 70's era GMC motor-homes have their exhaust routed thru the frame cross-members. Carried on, wait for it...... actual bearings. Bushings really, originals are a graphite-fiber matrix similar to some head-pipe to exhaust...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Left Hand Collet Cyn Rd. Down To HITR ?

Re: Upper Muley, note that the mud on the truck was from below the Burr switch-backs on Notom. Above them was fine. I'd expect that you won't see any mud, but if we have a storm thru the area between now and then I'd advise accessing from Boulder rather than from UT24.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Left Hand Collet Cyn Rd. Down To HITR ?

We only went up LH Collet road as far as the mouth of the canyon narrows from HITR as we were mostly there to get to the end of HITR and were just exploring. Nowhere on HITR did we encounter the kind of mud that we found on Notom. We were in the area for three days and the ridgeline that LH...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I need more power Scotty!

Some wiring trickery would nearly fail-safe turn off the ACR when the engine is turned on. Use typical "sugar cube" NO/NC relay with wire for the remote switch running thru the NC power contacts. Tap into an IGN source for the relay's coil power. IGN on = remote off. :) OR write a bunch of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Interesting owner-built camper with pop-up hard-sided roof

You can attempt to seal water out, or you can make it such that it has to go uphill in order to get in. Most likely a combo of both methods will meet the widest range of conditions.
