RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Won't rotate tires with camper on?

I suspect it is a shop by shop problem. I had a leak in my airbag shocks and went back to the installer. I first went to them after having the camper off for a long non-camping road trip. Then went back to them(in Tucson) with the airbag leak problem and they wouldn't put it on their old lift...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Total Chaos bed stiffeners w/ Tacoma + FWC Ranger II clearance

They are heavy(less than 100#) and awkward to handle, but I have three of them under my camper!

I suggest lifting the camper and installing a livestock pad for the camper to rest on clear of attachment points.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swift on Tundra Crewmax

Doesn't the Crewmax have only a 5.5' bed? Lots of overhang! I suggest adding another leaf spring to handle that rear loading.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Talk me out of a 2.7 Ecoboost

Just remember the greatest cost of owning a vehicle is not gas consumption, but maintenance!! My experience of turbos is the added pressure in the engine can lead to expensive failures like coolant leaks, etc and resulting in very expensive repairs, like in the $20K range. I feel much more...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Porta Boats ?

I am sort of a kayak Guru with two Warren carbon fibre kayaks(one a sailing kayak) in Fort Collins, two Pygmy kayaks at our winter home in Tucson, and a CLC 17 and Pygmy at our CO mountain cabin, all of which I haul in a kayak trailer for easy loading and unloading. Both my wife and I are in our...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2020+ superduty crew cab short box owners?

I have a 2013 Tundra and had to lift my Hallmark camper in order to clear the truck cab. No big deal. I use stock pads(three) and do the job nicely.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Member's 1st Gen Tacoma Questions

Mods to the 1st generation Tundra: I recommend finding a shop with experience installing helper springs rather than air bags or both. I had a lot of problems with leaky air bags and had a shop install an extra leaf spring. It works great. Also get 10 ply tires!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West who has made move from first gen Tundra to Tacoma?

I made the transition from 2011 Tacoma to a 2013 Tundra and I have never regretted the transition. The Tundra is a much more comfortable ride and carries the camper load much better especially after I added another spring leaf as well as air bags. The main disadvantage of the 2nd gen Tundra is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to address rail height

I use stock mats. They are 4X8 sheets about 2" thick. They are a bit heavy for an 81 year old to load and unload but they work great! It takes three with my 2013 Tundra and a Hallmark Milner.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West do i need airbags?

I agree with the consensus that you should go with airbags. I also use just a bicycle pump but carry a full compressor. I don't even measure the pressure, just make sure the height above the rear tire is the same on both sides with a tape measure.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best camper options for Gen 1 V8 Tundra

First of all you must get in the campers that you are interested in and attempt to erect the top of a popup. My wife can not lift either the FWC or ATC even with lift assist struts. We therefore went to a Hallmark Milner which she can lift either with hand crank or rechargeable electric drill...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone Ride Rite - inflating questions.

I haver both a 12v electric pump and standing foot pump. Never us electric pump. Foot pump is much easier to set up. I use tape measure for height of fender above tire rather than pressure.
