RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question - Trash management

Our local Fish and Wildlife guy recommends putting out a pan of ammonia. He says it irritates their sensitive noses. That would be in conjunction with keeping a clean camp.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Latch tightness

I was told the same thing by FWC. I imagine it's similar for a Hallmark if it has the same kind of latches.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Corners Planning

Just in case you don't already know, Antelope Canyon must be done with a guide, and there will be crowds. The more photogenic tour times cost more. It's beautiful, but I don't think I would go again - too many people.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar eclipse in 2017, mid-morning August 21, plan for it now

I'm with a group that will be staying at Glendo State Park. I think we are supposed be doing a few astronomy presentations, but planning is still in the early stages. I believe the group I'm with is not open to all (sorry). We've reserved our campsites, but there may still be sites still open at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar eclipse in 2017, mid-morning August 21, plan for it now

I'm already committed to an eclipse event in Glendo, Wyoming, or I would be interested. You are right that it's not too early to plan. There will probably be crowds all along the path of totality.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Three new National Monuments in California

Obviously this is a sensitive topic. I think we can all agree that we want public access for our wanderings and camping. All I can add is do your own research about how to keep lands public, think critically about the information you read and your impact on the land, and - as Smoke reminds us -...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any Good Camping Near Boulder, CO?

Hey, David. There are some dispersed camping areas in the Boulder vicinity. They might be open year-round, though access may be difficult. Maybe give the Boulder Ranger District a call to see if they are an option in late March. Here's the dispersed camping page.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Three new National Monuments in California

With a growing mobile population there will be more human abuse resulting in more restrictions. It is unavoidable, no matter who administers the land, or whether it is recreational abuse or extractive. There will also be more conflicts between competing interests. We have to accept that as a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Three new National Monuments in California

My limited experience is as a volunteer with the USFS. I can't speak to other agencies. What I have seen is that the establishment of policy is not one way top-to-bottom. There are over 60 research stations in the different USFS regions. Results from these researchers inform the policymakers...

I'm with you, Sage. And it's worth remembering that the "feds" are not faceless people in DC. They are our friends and neighbors who have to deal with many people with different agendas. It's also worth remembering that many policies on existing public lands are rooted more in the scientific...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire chains..... annnnnd go!

I have ladder chains as well and use them maybe once a year, usually just to get out of my gravel driveway. Yeah, they are a bit of a pain to deal with, but not as much of a pain as being stuck or slipping toward the house. The standard ladder chain has always done the job for me, and be sure to...
