Tuesday March 16 at the Allsup's in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. A new looking Hawk on a black Dodge Ram with Texas plates. Talked briefly with the family and mentioned WtW. Hope they check in.

I spent a day and night on the Kaibab plateau before heading to Tuweep. There were dispersed camping opportunities east of De Motte and a pretty spectacular view at the edge of the east plateau rim looking toward Marble Canyon and the Cocks Comb. I could easily spend more time there.

Sure could use some of that California weather. Where I live (south central New Mexico) we only have about 30 percent of normal snowpack, and some migrating birds are showing up about three weeks early. A registry would help. Even so, you will be putting $$ into the state through taxes. Maybe match the taxes you would pay in donations to groups or politicians that support public lands - and tell Herbert you did so! Or, maybe find guides who will work for "under the table" cash?

There was actually a fair bit of snow, but not much stuck at Norris Geyser Basin. Looks like you should have even more when you get there.
