RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Revisiting heavy duty trucks

I think there is also a crowd that wants to drive their truck and camper combo in the same manner as they would an unloaded pickup. I have a 1/2 ton and I drive accordingly. I give myself more braking distance, I slow down over train tracks and bumpy roads. I'm conservative on the gas pedal...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2011 Four Wheel Camper Hawk HARD TOP For Sale

Wow. I don't think price is the issue, it's finding the buyer for a hard top. $8500 was a bargain. The right buyer is going to be a happy camper. I can't believe it is still avail.

My retired Chevrolet Caprice police car should be there. Most were turned into taxi cabs and driven 300K+ miles.

Looks like they are mostly highway vehicles. Not surprising.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you tried to sell a FWC today?

I agree and it's all in good nature. I might be a bit more sensitive to it because I have my FWC on full time and I travel to Jasper, Alberta a lot. Quite a few world travellers there, that have never seen anything like it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you tried to sell a FWC today?

I think this site is the biggest advertisement for FWC. Sure we come here to solve our issues, but it's a pretty common theme, that we all love our pop ups and we let it be known. I normally take advertising decals off of everything I own, but I've kept the FWC stickers on my Hawk. I'm, proud...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you tried to sell a FWC today?

"My point to this thread is that I think we probably all like to show off our rigs, but do any of us try hard to get someone to buy one?" I personally dislike all the attention my FWC gets. I'm more than polite to people and happy enough to patiently answer their questions, but honestly I'd...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West step stool for 4 Wheel Hawk on back of 2003 tundra

We have Brophy steps as well, but for the last year or so, we have just used the trailer hitch/ball. Works just fine. Doesn't hurt my foot even in sandles. Just face the front when getting in and out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What's your favorite camp chair?

I have 4 chairs that are extremely similar without the rocking part. Awesome design. Extremely strong. I've had them for 5+ years now and have used them many 100's of times. They are just as good as day 1. BTW, I'm a solid 300# and my GF is 140# and she's climbed on top/sat on my leg etc...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC not permitted at Washington State Park Tent sites

I've never been to a campground that allowed more than 1 RV per site other than group sites that are designated as group sites and are typically marked A & B. They are extra wide and double occupancy rates apply. Basically you are just sharing a picnic table and campfire. I don't know if...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC not permitted at Washington State Park Tent sites

Agreed. It's not a pleasure pitching a tent in a site that does not have a flat soft spot designated for a tent. RVers often run generators, bring bicycles, toys, children, dogs, tiki torches, patio lanterns , outdoor picnic table shelters etc. etc. Often it is a totally different vibe than...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Tank not working?

I experienced a similar problem when connecting my Coleman camp stove to the 10# bottles. It worked with one tank and not the other. I believe it was the result of one tank being filled higher than the other... more pressure I guess. I was eventually able to get it to work with both tanks. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grease Guns

A big part of the reason that they develop air locks is most people don't bother to read the instructions. After inserting a tube of grease you are NOT supposed to screw the head on tight until the gun is primed, thus allowing air to purge during the priming process. I'm not saying this...

I stick the end of my grease gun hose in the inner core of a used up roll of paper towel. If you are feeling ambitious, the pic up above is a pretty nifty DIY job.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Research on PopUp Campers

Too bad there isn't a wiki page from each manufacturer because this is essentially what you need. Best of luck, it's an ambitious task. Given the limited supply vs. high demand of used popups, one is considered lucky to find a unit that fits their truck at a fair price in their area. This is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hot water, over-pressurization

Interesting problem, I seldom use my hot water tank, but I will look next time I do. I'm assuming our tanks have the ability to regulate how "hot" the hot water gets heated. Perhaps dealing it down a notch will eliminate your issue and still give you desirable hot water temp. If not, it sound...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone installed an automatic propane change-over regulator?

I use my propane ALL the time. I fill up at Costco... it's dirt cheap. abut $3-4 per 10# tank. Because I live in Canada and winter camp in the mountains, I'm dependant on the heat. Usually I'll change out my tank when it's about 3//4 used and then use the remainder of the 3/4 empty tank for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overweight: Your perspective

TRUE! But research is an important part of the process, becaus it a) makes us believe we have the best possible option B) it is a lot of fun to think about the rig we will once have :D I agree. I often have as much or more fun researching items as I do owning them. To be honest though. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Over Cab Clearance

When I was washing my truck and FWC (with standard over cab clearance) this afternoon, I questioned how owners with such tight clearances wash the underneath of the camper overhang and the roof of their truck. I find the underneath of the camper overhang is an area that gets dirty and shows the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Overweight: Your perspective

Isn't what really matters is that you get out and camp? A lot of people go through years of research and then end up purchasing a used XYZ and in the end they are usually pretty content with it. Everything has trade offs, but no matter the combination most popup combos are quite versatile. I...
