RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A few pre-purchase, Bobcat buyer questions...

First of all I'm giving you feedback based on my Panther shell. 1 - I have a power vent above the stove to exhaust co2 as well as cooking odors to some extent. I also have a non powered vent the bed for additional ventilation. I don't know if it's really necessary but we open it on really...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Let's talk Coffee - Portable MyJo Press Review

$2.70 lb.!! Wow!! Great tip on Genuine Origin. I have 3 Huehuetenango's on hand now - all over $6.00 lb!! I see they also have a few Honduras and Uganda's on hand. I just received 10 lbs of Honduras Cerro Negro from SM that pulls an incredible SO. I tried to order more but it's already sold...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Let's talk Coffee - Portable MyJo Press Review

I also home roast using a Gene Cafe roaster and buy the majority of my beans from Sweetmarias. Depending on my mood I use a ROK espresso press or just pour over my 40 yr old Melitta cone for a regular cup of Jo'. I use a Hario Skerton for grinding the beans. For backpacking Starbucks instant. We...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2021 Trip to New Mexico

For high elevation camping I'd check out the Gila Cliff Dwellings. If you're into hiking or back backing the Gila Wilderness is spectacular and there are several hot springs in the area. Silver City is a great place for eats and re-supplying for your next destination. If you're into mining, the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

I see what you mean - that would be concerning. Maybe an extra leg centered opposite the 2 hinges to take the pressure off the hinge. You could use another folding hinge attached to a piece of 1x1 stock. Good luck!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

I understand the need to through bolt the hinges to the wall. I know the hinges can support over 400 lbs each but does the seat give any when you sit on it or does it stay relatively rigid? Thanks!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

Vic, great cabinet work and imaginative use of space. I've used folding hinges for shelves so I'm wondering how they work for your seats. Do they flex up and down much as you sit on them? I like how much space I could gain with them but I weigh in around 205lbs on a good day. Thanks for all the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pop-up Camper for 2005 Tundra

Stan's input is on the money re: 1st gen Tundra's combined with a loaded Hawk. I had an 03' Tundra/Hawk for a few years and the only suspension upgrade was an added leaf spring. My biggest concern was stopping - you can really feel the extra weight and I always felt that the brakes were...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HELP! Propane Tank Purge Reno Area?

I believe you just took delivery of an ATC. Give Marty a call - he knows what he's talking about. He fills the bottle (if your camper came with one) to check the connections, stove and furnace. I can't believe he'd risk having to warrantee your appliances over this.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HELP! Propane Tank Purge Reno Area?

I have an ATC so I called Marty and he said that they bleed the air out of the tank before filling it so you don't have to purge the tank. I had my initial fill done by my propane supplier (Suburban Propane) a year ago and asked them to purge the tank. They set it up to purge and turns out it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Brand new to truck campers - important question

I seem to whack my head at least once or twice a year, but I do that getting in my truck too. Guess I'm a slow learner!! There's still some friends that I tent camp and backpack with and the camper seems so luxurious in comparison. Hope I can continue to do all three for another decade.

I've been a trail crew volunteer on the Pacific Crest Trail for 20+ years. It's a National Scenic Trail and may not fit your wanting to be in a central National Park setting. The beauty of working on the PCT is you can choose work projects anywhere up or down it's 2650 mile length stretching...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk on a Tundra?

I had a 2007 Hawk on a '15 Tundra DC 4x4 with RideRite bags and never felt the need to beef up the suspension. Fully loaded my Tundra/Hawk weighed in at 7920 lbs with me in it. Slightly overweight but handling was never a problem. Stopping distance was a bigger concern so I always had to be...
