RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West storing ATC outside in winter

We only get a few inches of snow and occasional hail. I store my camper outside on a flatbed trailer. In the winter I place a sheet of 1 1/2" rigid foam insulation above the over the cab portion of my ATC. This helps control condensation and I would think it would also protect the top in severe...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spring trip to Utah & New Mexico

Thanks for the TR and great pics. Re the paving of the Burr Trail, since the the Grand Staircase NM was shrunk in half in 2017, many of these scenic backcountry roads and lands have lost the protections of NM status and are now open to development. That being said I was told by the locals to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Memorial Day Weekend

Living in the foothills we are lucky to "get away from it all" everyday and it's ez to take it for granted. I suspect that those folks backed up on the roads and squeezed next to each other in campgrounds live like that everyday and it's just part of their daily lives. Blessed to be where we are!

Did a 10 mile run down I80 W to Auburn this morning. Counted 27 rvs & motorhomes going eastbound. Not a pretty picture.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Memorial Day Weekend

Wife and I did our final trip for awhile last weekend at Hat Creek. Only 3 other campers where we were but saw many large groups along a dispersed area nearby. I'll be running down to Auburn tomorrow and expect to see the throngs headed to the mountains on I80, Typically, there'll be a couple...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New passes required at Glacier NP>

We had reservations outside the park and the few hundred tickets to enter the park were sold out in minutes. Our trip was centered around a wedding in Bozeman with a week before in the Winds and the week after at Glacier NP and surroundings. With the uncertainty of being able to obtain the $2...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra front Rotors

I had an 04 Tundra and ran the original brakes and rotors up 105,000 miles before replacing the pads and just had the rotors turned. The Hawk I had at the time was only on 25% of the time. My '15 Tundra had 36,000 miles on it and I never noticed any warping. I live in the Sierra foothills where...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Bobcat

Congrats on your new ATC. I have a Truckfridge TF51 and very happy with it. Be sure to check the turnbuckles often as they will loosen up. I just use a screwdriver to give them a 1/4 turn after hand tightening. Looking forward to pics of your new rig!! Oh yeah- bring a step stool.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 5 Gal/20 L gas can

Be sure to buy a can that fits the strap that came with your can holder. One strap fits old jerry cans with the large flat cap and one fits cans with the smaller fill cap that sits up a couple of inches That being said I prefer the old style jerry cans. I still use one that I had from my 1st...

The Light In High Places by Joe Hutto. " A Naturalist Looks At Wyoming Wilderness, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. Cowboys, and Other Rare Species". RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New panther order

The stove top ATC uses is flush to the counter top. I'm 5'9" and find the stove to be a bit too high mounted on the corner cabinet. Maybe not an issue for you but I would ask Marty if there's a way to build the cabinet a little lower. As for the furnace I'd recommend going with a Propex. It has...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kayak on top of camper

I have 2 IKs - 10.5' Advanced Frame Touring and 13' Expedition with optional backbone. The 10.5' doesn't track well in flat water but is very responsive in current. The 13' tracks great but is definitely slower than my 12' hard shell. I used to haul my 12' hardshell on my old Hawk before gas...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting FWC hawk on in bed storage drawers.

The grass is greener! I built my drawer with sliders and because the side tolerances are so tight it would get harder to open in the winter when the wood swells. If I had to build one again it would be like yours.
