RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fire Extinguisher

Maintenance free is a good thing but will it actually extinguish fire? I find some of the youtube videos very disturbing.

Also, the Element doesn't appear very effective against reignition. That brings up something I forgot to mention. Foam is the only fire extinguishing agent that can prevent a fire. If the Jeep in front of me rolls and is leaking fuel I can put a blanket of foam down to prevent a fire. The...

I'm not too impressed with them. 1. Cost-Very expensive 2. Not refillable 3. Range. Need to be very close to the fire 4. No cooling effect 5. Its a gas. Any wind and it becomes less effective 6. It may have an A rating but using it on wildland fire? Much like a Halon extinguisher I could see...

I should mention that when I carry my kayak its tied down front and rear so even if there were some lifting forces it couldn't lift anyway.

Couple more 90 degree days coming before it cools off. I'm wondering if we'll get some grass fires before it does. I've already contacted the city trying to get them to water the dog park. They don't mind watering the medians, soccer fields and the skate park but for some reason the dog park...

And as for size, the bigger the better. I realize most people won't or can't carry a 2 1/2 gallon extinguisher but go as big as you have room. My smallest is a 3lb. Probably about 32oz. Don't forget the quick release. I'm glad I went out to take a pic. I didn't realize the pin was missing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fire Extinguisher

For automotive use I'm not too worried about C rating. I do worry about fire transitioning to the wildland where a powder extinguisher with its poor A rating isn't going to help much. You're correct about the mess to from using a a dry chemical extinguisher. Another consideration that I was...

Actually there are more types than that but a Class AB is good enough for most of us. I tend to get a little bit carried away though. I do have a preference for foams similar to afff. Other than a chance of freezing I think its the way to go but you can't just grab one off the shelf in most places.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Which Sealant, Adhesive or Caulk to Use? Depends on the Application.

Wow, I wonder if the butyl tape I have is eternabond. Kind of explains why my fan has so many screws. I use silicone on the inside of screw holes but that's about it.

Thanks Craig. I'll definitely read up on it. Not that joe schmuck uses 9930 isn't useful information. Sometimes I wonder if I haven't just gotten lucky in my choice of sealants.

I have a little folding stool or I'll stand on an ice chest etc. I normally leave them rolled up so I don't have to do it often.
