RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tick Talk

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to give Riley his Simparica Trio on the first. Unfortunately now every itch I have is going to have me thinking tick /grrrr :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Cautionary Trailhead Tale

As much as the feral cats here annoy me they do keep the rodent population in check. Riley tries but even when he was young he didn't have the sprint in him to catch rodents. More of a long distance runner :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West And Suddenly It's Summer 2024!

I took a look at my AC. It needs a good cleaning but it won't shut off long enough for me to do the work!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aphelion Friday

I just got back from the Icehouse area. Just a quick trip to get Riley out the noise for the night. People were everywhere. Normally I see few outside of the campgrounds but every spot a car could pull was taken. I suppose its a combination of the heat and a four day weekend for many. At least...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Cautionary Trailhead Tale

It wasn't marmots, some other critter at one of the trailheads I went to. But yes, they are attracted to antifreeze. Some say leaving your hood open helps.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 270 Degree Awning Options

I got lucky and found some brackets at a local supply company. Put two together and ding, I can make an awning bracket with these.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fire Restrictions Begin

I'm surprised they waited so long.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery died, time for big conversion solar, fridge, etc

I almost forgot about my portable panel. Nice insurance but I haven't needed it yet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 270 Degree Awning Options

I have literally done pull ups on my Alu Cab 270. I never bother to put down the pole. A cheaper awning may be worth it I don't know. I just know I don't worry about winds coming up while I'm out exploring.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery died, time for big conversion solar, fridge, etc

I don't know that I'd consider a dc/dc charger needed if solar is doing a good job. I added one because I got a good deal on it and there will be a handful of times it comes in handy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anybody running minimal or no power in their camper?

I started out running my camper off the truck batteries. Lights, fan and heater the only draws. However it wasn't long before I wanted a compressor fridge. Added usb ports for charging etc. Added a camper battery. Added a 100w solar panel. Not enough. Added another battery. Added another solar...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery died, time for big conversion solar, fridge, etc

160w may be enough. 400w is almost assuredly overkill though it allows for future electrical upgrades if you decide to go that way.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shadow Lake - June 2024

Not knowing Shadow Lake I google earthed it. Interesting that there are two Shadow Lakes a mere 7 miles apart. Mule ears mean I've made it to the mountains but as for making a cologne that smells like that? I'll pass :)

Having worked on an assembly line I fully understand how that goes.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Sealant

The butyl tape does most of the sealing. I was surprised when I installed my maxx air that it was still soft and pliable after twenty years. Some people remove it and apply new but I didn't. I added a little new in couple spots and ran it. Doesn't leak. Just make sure whichever sealant you use...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water intrusion

I hope they do a little engineering analysis on this. Driving into rain is something we all do on occasion. I saw a number of things that are different on your camper than on my old camper. Might be a couple things for them to think about long term.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to Fix This?

They make some adhesive patches but I think you'd have to apply on both sides and then would it still fold down? I don't know if that'd be a good option. You could certainly try before spending the money on a new top.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Antelope Lake

I'm glad I drove that area when I did. That's quite a large closure. I heard a rumor they're just going to move the gathering to another location. Probably not on the Plumas :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Summer weight sleeping bag with a good zipper

Bag showed up today. Not flannel but some kind of hybrid nylon. Feels okay. Zipper seems to be some kind of Coleman proprietary design. Time will tell. I'll check it out on the fourth when we bail on Sac.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Visit to All Terrain Campers - April 2024

My bbq has a slight leak. I probably lost 1/8th of a tank when I forgot to shut off or disconnect it.

As long as your solar provides the correct charge most of the time the charge from the IOTA wont' hurt anything.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A new tool for western trip planning - fire watch live cameras

I can vividly remember climbing up to the lookout above Taylor Lake (since torn down) and having the lookout explain what I was seeing. That brown smoke is actually from road construction. The black smoke over there is from the mill. He knew every inch of his territory. They had the ability to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

The Iota is a fine unit and if its only the occasional charge from it the difference in charge profile won't be a big deal. Save the work and expense.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Summer weight sleeping bag with a good zipper

So far my winter and three season bags are still okay, just my summer bag that needs replacing. Never heard of Wiggys. I'll check them out.
