RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Any update on the new crop of flex solar panels ?

I bought two KINGSOLAR 50W (100 W total) Semi Flexible Solar Panel and connected them in series with a Viltron Energy Blue Solar MPPT smart charger controller and their MPPT Control/Monitor. The total cost was about $400. I put the panel in series. The nice thing about the series connections...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vote on my new camper

I liked my ATC Ocelot, but there were a few issues. On really rough 4x4 roads the balance is a bit off. I think a Panther shell with front dinette and centered water tank with no propane will be better. The fabric top doesn't provide insulation, as soon as the furnace turns off it cools off...

I looking at no propane, compessor fridge, and saved my 100W solar panels, victron controller and monitor, battery and isolator...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West T-boned in NM truck and camper gone

I'll have to make some adjustments will make when I get there. For commando camping in the suburbs the front seats are down and table fold up with top down. With the table down it makes a large bench seat. I changed to the R49AC/DC Truckfrig with a large 1.5' foot door under and a 2" drawer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West T-boned in NM truck and camper gone

I'm kind of excited thinking about how to build out the panther shell and anxious about the insurance settlement. Thinking about a doing a front dinette with a low center of gravity water tank and no propane. RV water tanks has an 8x11x48" tank that can be centered mounted at the front. For...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra rear seat removal

I just bought a 2006 Tundar AC and it had back seats replaced with a plywood version of back seats with 3/4 inch foam. Before I had a 2002 Tundra AC with back bench seats. I would guess they way about 40 lbs. The advantage of the plywood version is that there is a lot more space. I like to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Timing Belt Failures On Tundras?

Ya on my last Tundra I did the 90k maintainance at 180k then another one at 260k. You are right the concequence is dire but I'm an enganier "at least I think thats the way I think you spell it" and if the company says it might fail at 90k miles the probability is vary vary low, better than a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West spare key

So its no big deal. I just got a 2006 tundra and it came with 1 key and key chain remote. I made two more keys which came with on a wire ring. Keep one key for a spare, and attach the second under the truck some where only you would look. Just remember where you put it. Lock a spare key...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West T-boned in NM truck and camper gone

I'm thinking about just getting a panther shell. My ocelot was taylored for the 2002 Tundra type 1 and want to do the same. I'm thinking just how often really need heater, and maybe a cooler with a drain is more reliable than a frige. And then there is all that overhead for a frig like power...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Timing Belt Failures On Tundras?

If Toyota specifies 90k then the failure probably at 90k is probably less than 1%. You are probably good for 200k miles. When the water pump or tensioner look like a problem then do the timing belt.

The truck and camper are totaled. I got a 2006 Tundra 4x4 V8 access cab with 140k miles for $10k in Albuquerque. Replacing my totaled 2002 4x4 V6 AC Tundra. So I’m feeding better.

I got T-boned head N on US84 at the turn-off to Ojo Caliente NM, US285. I was going about 50 thru the intersection when a Chevy 4x4 at the 285 stop sign gunned it. He didn’t see me but hit me in the rear passenger door. My Tundra with camper rolled onto drivers side, spun around and slid about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Busy Summer moving but here are some pictues from Spring this year

It's my third try with the Shiprock picture. Before there was too much noise in the foreground. An interesting phenomenon is the green in the foreground. This was a really dark new moon night. I believe that the green is from ionization in the upper atmosphere. Normally everything is yellow...

It's on the Navajo reservation. Access is on the south side where Indian Service road 13 cross the dike extending south from Shiprock. The roads can be rough and impassable if wet. Fortunately it's open with no restrictions that I can tell but I always try to be discrete and keep a low profile.

Ya you know I really don't get it. Before it was a national monument it was just a lot of land managed by the BLM. After it was a National Monument it really didn't change except a lot more people became aware of it. Just like those good meaning folks who are trying to improve all the trails...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What are the must have add ones? From ATC or self built. I'm about to order!

You guys are scaring me. I like my 3-way. To get started I usually throw 3 or 4 frozen water bottles in and plug it in at home. I usually keep it loaded, with extra water bottles, sodas or beer. Have to turn it to med at night otherwise stuff freezes, albeit ambient is usually in the 60s or...
