RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally drank the trimetic kool aid

I hope all goes well for you on the installation. I'd like to have one as well, but I just try to be ultra conservative with my single battery usage and hope amount of driving I do along with the solar panel is enough. It certainly would be nice to "know" exactly what is going on. Hopefully...

As mentioned above, the most important thing is do not be in a hurry. Here are some of my tips: -When you are lined up, you should NOT be able to see the rear jacks. The front jacks will be blocking their view. I like to close one eye and make sure I am spot on. The further away you are from...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Door is biting me in the head!

BTW, don't feel bad. I'm 6'3" and I never bump my head. My GF is 5'0" and she always bumps her head, especially if she is wearing a hair clip. Maybe it's because I am forced to duck. Maybe you should start wearing a cowboy hat or one of those cheese head things :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Galvanic Corrosion - screws, sealant etc.

You won't see the corrosion on the screws. It's the aluminum that would corrode if using stainless. It turns to a white powder. Water is needed as well, so you may do well with stainless. I suggest you remove a couple in areas where you would suspect the most moisture and check out the aluminum.

This is the point of using zinc plated screws. The zinc plating is sacrificial (it isn't going to last forever though) If you want your screws to last a little longer there are products like this. Yes there are different grades of stainless steel, but there is no stainless steel that is less...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Galvanic Corrosion - screws, sealant etc.

Thanks. I actually like the way it looks. Just the right amount of rugged bling, and if anyone steals my camper I'll know right away. It's honestly not that big of a deal. I just don't want to see any more of it. I know we are enthusiasts, engineering types etc. but part of the reason I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Galvanic Corrosion - screws, sealant etc.

FWC has been contacted. They said use zinc plated screws. Do not use stainless. Anyhow. I'll use zinc plated screws and change them out every couple years as the coating gets sacrificed. I mentioned previously. I may have changed a zinc plated screw out to a plain metal hex head screw a year...

The blue arrow is indeed where the power wire comes through a factory drilled hole. The big hole on the far right is indeed loss of metal due to galvanic corrosion. This is where a stainless steel screw was used to mount the light to the camper. The two screw holes to the right of the power...

On one thread on this forum I read that FWC uses: C1022-grade steel with a Climaseal organometallic polymer coating over base coat of non-electrolytically applied zinc Although a mouthful, this makes sense to me. Steel = strong screw (not to far from aluminum on the galvanic table) zinc =...

What type of screws does FWC use? Why did I only find 4 stainless screws out of about 40 screws if marine grade stainless is the way to go. What were the other screws made of? There are so many galvanic charts. Can somebody post one that they think is a good chart to reference.

I'm looking at replacing all of the screws on the marker lights of my 2013 Hawk, with whatever is best to avoid galvanic corrosion. After reading for about 1 week on galvanic corrosion, I'm more confused than ever. Some people say use stainless steel, others say do not use stainless steel...

Will galvanic corrosion spread on its own like rust, once it had started? Let say you notice it and then change materials etc. does the existing corrosion need to be dealt with?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rain noise

If you have Yakima tracks. You can always spread them all the way apart and have a quick connect for a small tarp. This is how I connect my tarp to make an awning. I just have a couple eye bolts the the end of the bars. On the tarp I have elastic tarp connector as shown above. I have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping in the Canadian Rockies?

I don't go to Banff, but I go to Jasper all the time. Drop off is huge come Sept. There are so many campsites to begin with and they are are relatively spread apart. You may not see your fellow campers while at your site. There are also lots of trees. BTW, even if the campground were full...

Very nice item to have during a fire ban. While everyone else is sitting around with nothing to do, you get to party!!! Very convenient for quick outtings as well. I'd like to have one. Enjoy!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 Hawk shell asking price?

Honestly the market is going to dictate the price. Based on what Ski posted (I applaud the effort put into it... wow), and the fact the ATC did the work on the kitchen, $10,000 might be reasonable. You can certainly price high and the market will tell you if you are too high. It's a bit tough...
